ON PHASE TRANSITIONS AND STRUCTURAL SYSTEMATICS I N ALKALINE EARTH METALS UNDER PRESSURE
1984
Le Journal de Physique Colloques
The crystal structures of Mg.Ca.Sr and Ba were studied by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction at room temperature and pressures up to 50 GPa. Mg transforms around 50 GPa from hep to bcc.Structural transitions to bec and to a simple cubic structure are observed in Ca at 19.5 and 32 GPa respectively.Sr shows the well known transition from fee to bcc at 3.5 GPa and additional phase transitions around 26, 35 and 46 GPa, which lead ultimately to the Ba-IV-structure.The experiments on Ba gave some
