EFFECTS OF PITUITARY ADENYLATE CYCLASE-ACTIVATING POLYPEPTIDE ON PROLACTIN, GROWTH HORMONE AND CORTISOL SECRETION IN NORMAL MALE SUBJECTS
1996
Biomedical research
Effects of intravenous infusion of pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide-38 (PACAP-38) on plasma PRL, GH and cortisol levels were studied in normal male subjects. Intravenous infusion of PACAP-38 (10 pmol/kg body weight per min, for 30 min) resulted in an increase in plasma PRL but not GH levels. Plasma cortisol levels were not significantly changed, but the diurnal decline of plasma cortisol levels was blunted during the infusion of PACAP-38. These findings suggest that PACAP-38
