This chapter presents a state of the art of the management of ad-hoc networks and is structured as follows. We introduce ad-hoc networking and the challenges of ad-hoc networking management in Section 1. We present the main management paradigms and the underlying architectures in Section 2. Several application domains including monitoring, configuration and cooperation control are covered by Section 3.
