Based on a qualitative empirical study, this master thesis deals with the incentives and motivations of social entrepreneurs. 14 interviews with experts were conducted in order to understand the structure of incentives as well as the influence of motives on the founding of the actual incentives set. The findings of this study are taken to perform a comparison between social entrepreneurs and other types of organizations regarding setting incentives. This study shows that social entrepreneurs

The influences of the motives for the founding of social entrepreneurs on the actual incentives set are rather negligible. The comparison with other types of organizations point out that there are both, differences and similarities in the usage and the variety of setting specific incentives. These new and practice-oriented results represent a reference for setting incentives and offer a basis for future research in the field of incentives and motivations by social entrepreneurs.
