The article is concerned with the concordance of consonants [j], [ш], [ч], commonly used in the Turkic languages. Having compared the use of consonants in old written texts with the ones, used in modern Turkic languages, the author studies the history of these sounds development and formation in the sound system of the Turkic languages.
