Melting ice and its consequences for nature are ongoing topics in the media. Each year, glaciers loose an ice mass of hundreds of gigatons and it is expected that this trend will continue in the coming years. Melting glaciers contribute significantly to the rising sea level. Most scientific studies of ice melting analyze Greenland because here - after Antarctica - the second largest connected ice sheet is located and the biggest ice mass changes takes place. more » ... thesis we analyze the less researched glacier area of Alaska, though. In this thesis, I analyzed the ice mass changes of this area by point mass modelling. Mass estimates of those points are computed by Tikhonov regularization. The regularization parameter is determined by the L-curve criterion. The ice mass changes of the Alaska glaciers found by this method are within a realistic range.
