The aim of this work is to explore the potential of Latin American telenovelas as audiovisual media for the purpose of teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Especially, the focus lies on their suitability for the development of speaking, writing, reading and listening skills by the learners, as well as the intercultural communicative competence and media literacy.
