The objective of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in Itapeuá, Municipality of Coari, in the rural area of Amazonas State, Brazil. A seroprevalence of 82% was observed in a sample of 100 individuals examined. The infection rate verified in children and adolescents (53%; 44/82) was higher than in adults and elderly (47%; 39/82).
