The problem of the 21 st century heritage preservation is to raise the heritage to modern life. The study object is the adaptation of architectural heritage and ways of using it. The review of international and Lithuanian legislation and scientists' insights formed a controversial equation: maximum preservation, minimum changes, appropriate adaptation.
