Clone detection via structural abstraction

William S. Evans, Christopher W. Fraser, Fei Ma
2009 Software quality journal
This paper describes the design, implementation, and application of a new algorithm to detect cloned code. It operates on the abstract syntax trees formed by many compilers as an intermediate representation. It extends prior work by identifying clones even when arbitrary subtrees have been changed. These subtrees may represent structural rather than simply lexical code differences. In 840,000 lines of Java and C# code, 20-50% of the clones that we find involve these structural changes, which

HILAQ: A Novel Strategy for Newly Synthesized Protein Quantification [article]

2016 bioRxiv   pre-print
Here we describe a new strategy, HILAQ (Heavy Isotope Labeled Azidohomoalanine Quantification), to rapidly quantify the molecular vulnerability profile to oxytosis. HILAQ quantified more than 1,900 Newly Synthesized Proteins (NSP) after 1h pulse labeling in HEK293T cell line. Compared with the previous published QuaNCAT protocol, the HILAQ strategy simplifies newly synthesized proteome analysis and achieves higher sensitivity

Ultrasound-guided Transthoracic Intramyocardial Injection in Mice

2014 Journal of Visualized Experiments
Murine models of cardiovascular disease are important for investigating pathophysiological mechanisms and exploring potential regenerative therapies. Experiments involving myocardial injection are currently performed by direct surgical access through a thoracotomy. While convenient when performed at the time of another experimental manipulation such as coronary artery ligation, the need for an invasive procedure for intramyocardial delivery limits potential experimental designs. With ever
more » ... ing ultrasound resolution and advanced noninvasive imaging modalities, it is now feasible to routinely perform ultrasound-guided, percutaneous intramyocardial injection. This modality efficiently and reliably delivers agents to a targeted region of myocardium. Advantages of this technique include the avoidance of surgical morbidity, the facility to target regions of myocardium selectively under ultrasound guidance, and the opportunity to deliver injectate to the myocardium at multiple, predetermined time intervals. With practiced technique, complications from intramyocardial injection are rare, and mice quickly return to normal activity on recovery from anesthetic. Following the steps outlined in this protocol, the operator with basic echocardiography experience can quickly become competent in this versatile, minimally invasive technique. Isostatic pressure effects on the elastic and electronic properties of non-doped and Mn4+-doped K2SiF6 (KSF) have been investigated by first-principles calculations within density functional theory (DFT). Bulk modulus was obtained by the Murnaghan's equation of states (EOS) using the relationship between volume and pressures at pressures between 0 and 40 GPa, and elastic constants were calculated by the stress–strain relationship giving small distortions at each pressure point. The other
more » ... parameters such as shear modulus, sound velocity and Debye temperature, which can be obtained from the elastic constants, were also estimated. The influence of external isostatic pressure on the electronic properties, such as crystal field strength 10Dq and emission energy of 2E → 4A2 transition (Eem), of KSF:Mn4+ was also studied. The results suggest that 10Dq and Eem linearly increase and decrease, respectively, with increasing pressure.
