2010 arXiv   pre-print
Using the Kirillov orbit method, novel methods from p-adic integration and Clifford theory, we study representation zeta functions associated to compact p-adic analytic groups. In particular, we give general estimates for the abscissae of convergence of such zeta functions. We compute explicit formulae for the representation zeta functions of some compact p-adic analytic groups, defined over a compact discrete valuation ring O of characteristic 0. These include principal congruence subgroups of

SL_2(O), without any restrictions on the residue field characteristic of O, as well as the norm one group SL_1(D) of a non-split quaternion algebra D over the field of fractions of O and its principal congruence subgroups. We also determine the representation zeta functions of principal congruence subgroups of SL_3(O) in the case that O has residue field characteristic 3 and is unramified over Z_3.

2008 Conference and Labs of the Evaluation Forum
This paper describes the participation of Tel Aviv University Medical Image Processing Laboratory group at the ImageClef 2008 medical retrieval and medical annotation tasks. In both tasks we have used the bag-of-words approach for image representation. We submitted two purely visual automatic runs to the medical retrieval task, which used different normalization in the feature extraction stage. Images were converted to a histogram of visual words, and were compared using L1 distance. Our best

For the medical annotation task we submitted four runs, all used support-vector-machines trained on the visual word histograms. The runs differ in image resolution, and in the way classifiers of two resolutions were combined. In this task our result was second best among the participating groups, with error scores between 105.75 and 117.17.

2011 Lecture Notes in Computer Science
In this study we present an efficient image categorization system for medical image databases utilizing a local patch representation based on both content and location. The system discriminates between healthy and pathological cases and indicates the subregion in the image that is automatically found to be most relevant for the decision. We show an application to pathology-level categorization of chest x-ray data, the most popular examination in radiology. Experimental results are provided on

2014 Cornea
Purpose: The aim of this study was to report the outcomes of corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) after previous radial keratotomy (RK) in patients with decreasing visual acuity and/or diurnal visual fluctuations. Methods: The charts of all patients who had undergone CXL because of a worsening corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) and/or diurnal visual fluctuations after RK were reviewed retrospectively. Uncorrected distance visual acuity, CDVA, manifest refraction, and corneal topography were

Results: Nine eyes of 6 patients that had undergone an RK 15 to 23 years before the CXL were included in the study. In 5 patients (8 out of 9 eyes), discontinuation of diurnal visual fluctuation was reported between 6 and 12 months after the CXL. The mean uncorrected distance visual acuities pre and 12 months after the CXL were 0.7 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) and 0.6 logMAR, respectively (P = 0.3). The mean CDVAs pre and 12 months after the CXL were 0.2 logMAR and 0.1 logMAR (P = 0.5), respectively. The mean average keratometry pre and 12 months after the CXL were 40.1 and 39.1 diopters (P = 0.06), respectively. The mean corneal astigmatism values pre and 12 months after the CXL were 2.3 and 1.9 diopters (P = 0.06), respectively. The mean manifest refraction spherical equivalents (MRSEs) before and 12 months after the CXL were +1.4 and +2.5 (P = 0.1), respectively. Conclusions: CXL is a safe and effective method to restore corneal stability in eyes with a history of RK. However, some of the effect that was achieved at the 6-month visit was blunted at the 12-month visit. Therefore, a longer follow-up is necessary to validate these findings.

2009 2009 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro
We present an efficient image categorization and retrieval system applied to medical image databases, in particular large radiograph archives. The methodology presented is based on local patch representation of the image content and a bag-offeatures approach for defining image categories, with a kernel based SVM classifier. In a recent international competition the system was ranked as one of the top schemes in discriminating orientation and body regions in x-ray images, and in medical visual

In addition to organ-level discrimination, we show initial results of pathology-level categorization of chest x-ray data. On a set of 102 chest radiographs taken from routine hospital examination, the system detects pathology with sensitivity of 94% and specificity of 91%. We view this as a first step towards similarity-based categorization with clinical importance in computer-assisted diagnostics.
