Magnetization Plateau of the Distorted Diamond Spin Chain
[article]
2019
arXiv
pre-print
The frustrated quantum spin system on the distorted diamond chain lattice is investigated using the numerical diagonalization of finite-size clusters and the level spectroscopy analysis. In the previous work this system was revealed to exhibit the 1/3 magnetization plateau due to two different mechanisms depending on the coupling parameters, and the phase diagram at the 1/3 magnetization was obtained. In the present work it is found that the 1/3 magnetization plateau vanishes for sufficiently

Quantum Phase Transition of the Twisted Spin Tube
[article]
2019
arXiv
pre-print
The S=1/2 twisted three-leg spin tube with the lattice distortion from the regular triangle to the isosceles one is investigated using the numerical diagonalization of finite-size clusters and the phenomenological renormalization group analysis. It is found that the quantum phase transition occurs from the spin gap phase to another one with respect to this lattice distortion.

Quantum Phase Transitions of the Distorted Diamond Spin Chain
[article]
2019
arXiv
pre-print
The frustrated quantum spin system on the distorted diamond chain lattice suitable for the alumoklyuchevskite is investigated using the numerical diagonalization of finite-size clusters and the level spectroscopy analysis. It is found that this model exhibits three quantum phases; the ferrimagnetic phase, the spin gap one, and the gapless Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid depending on the exchange coupling parameters. The ground state phase diagram is presented.

Nuclear expression of claudin‑3 in human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines and tissues
2017
Oncology Letters
Claudins are members of a large family of transmembrane proteins, which are essential for the formation of tight junctions and have a significant effect on the biological behavior of tumor progression. Previous studies have demonstrated that several claudins show aberrant expression patterns in numerous types of cancer. The present study investigated the expression and localization of claudin-3 and claudin-7 in human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines and tissues. The protein expression

... of claudin-3 and claudin-7 were determined using immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical staining. Claudin-3, but not claudin-7, exhibited nuclear localization in the human colorectal adenocarcinoma Caco-2 and SW620 cell lines. Surgically resected colorectal adenocarcinoma tissue specimens were obtained, and the associations between the expression of claudin-3 or claudin-7 and various clinicopathological parameters were analyzed. The membranous expression rates of claudin-3 and claudin-7 were 58.0 and 50.0%, while their nuclear expression rates were 22.0 and 2.0%, respectively. The membranous expression of claudin-3 and claudin-7 was not associated with any clinicopathological factors, whereas the nuclear expression of claudin-3 was associated with histological type and was significantly increased in colorectal mucinous adenocarcinomas compared with that in well-to moderately-differentiated colorectal adenocarcinomas (P<0.01). However, no associations were observed between the nuclear expression of claudin-7 and any clinicopathological parameter. In conclusion, the nuclear expression of claudin-3 in colorectal mucinous adenocarcinoma may be involved in the biological transformation of tumors. The results from the present study indicated that claudin-3 is an important protein associated with histological type and has potential as a prognostic marker. Although the mechanisms underlying the nuclear localization of claudin-3 in tumorigenesis have not yet been elucidated in detail, the present results indicated the potential of claudin-3 as a histopathological biomarker for colorectal adenocarcinomas.
Resection of Pulmonary Metastasis of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
2009
Journal of Thoracic Oncology
Management of pulmonary metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains controversial. We reviewed our surgical treatment for pulmonary metastasis of NSCLC. Methods: Seventy-six patients with pulmonary metastasis of NSCLC underwent pulmonary resections in two institutes during the past 10 years. Eighteen patients with simultaneous same lobe metastasis as the primary lesion underwent mostly lobectomies. Sixteen patients with simultaneous different lobe metastasis underwent combined

... n-free resections. Forty-nine pulmonary metastasectomies were performed in 42 patients with recurrent lung cancer. Overall survival and disease-free survival in each group were examined, and factors affecting survivals were investigated. Results: In the patients with the same lobe metastasis 5-year survival was 79.6%, and median and 5-year disease-free survivals were 39.1 months and 41.3%. In the patients with simultaneous different lobe metastasis median survival and 5-year survival were 37.7 months and 30.7%, and median and 5-year disease-free survivals were 13.3 months and 12.5%, respectively. Multiple pulmonary metastasis and mediastinal node metastasis were identified as significant factors affecting survivals. In the patients with recurrent pulmonary metastasis median survival and 5-year survival were 40.0 months and 34.8%, and median and 5-year disease-free survivals were 23.7 months and 14.4%, respectively. Node metastasis, higher age, and shorter interval from the prior resection were identified as significant factors affecting survivals. Conclusions: These findings suggest that the simultaneous same lobe metastasis is under the same indication for the primary lesion, and that the simultaneous different lobe metastasis and recurrent pulmonary metastasis should be removed in selected patients.
