Resource Bounded Immunity and Simplicity [article]

Tomoyuki Yamakami, Toshio Suzuki
2005 arXiv   pre-print
Revisiting the thirty years-old notions of resource-bounded immunity and simplicity, we investigate the structural characteristics of various immunity notions: strong immunity, almost immunity, and hyperimmunity as well as their corresponding simplicity notions. We also study limited immunity and simplicity, called k-immunity and feasible k-immunity, and their simplicity notions. Finally, we propose the k-immune hypothesis as a working hypothesis that guarantees the existence of simple sets in NP.

Towards Nominal Formal Languages [article]

Alexander Kurz and Tomoyuki Suzuki and Emilio Tuosto
2011 arXiv   pre-print
We introduce formal languages over infinite alphabets where words may contain binders. We define the notions of nominal language, nominal monoid, and nominal regular expressions. Moreover, we extend history-dependent automata (HD-automata) by adding stack, and study the recognisability of nominal languages.

Morphisms on Bi-approximation Semantics

Tomoyuki Suzuki
2012 Advances in Modal Logic
In the present paper, we introduce bounded morphisms on bi-approximation semantics, show the so-called p-morphism lemma on bi-approximation semantics, and investigate the dual representation of the morphisms. In addition, we study three properties, namely B-embedding, B-separating and B-reflecting, to preserve validity of sequents on frames. These bounded morphisms do not look like embedding, surjective and isomorphic p-morphisms on Kripke semantics in modal logic. Nevertheless, with help of

Note on the spectrum of discrete Schrödinger operators [article]

Fumio Hiroshima, Itaru Sasaki, Tomoyuki Shirai, Akito Suzuki
2012 arXiv   pre-print
The spectrum of discrete Schrödinger operator L+V on the d-dimensional lattice is considered, where L denotes the discrete Laplacian and V a delta function with mass at a single point. Eigenvalues of L+V are specified and the absence of singular continuous spectrum is proven. In particular it is shown that an embedded eigenvalue does appear for d≥5 but does not for 1≤ d≤ 4.

2005 Tohoku journal of experimental medicine
We assessed the influence of aging on cardiac function by means of parameters measured by echocardiography. The study group consisted of 494 normal subjects aged 13 to 87 years. We measured the ratio of early filling (E) and atrial contraction (A) transmitral flow velocities (E/A) of left and right ventricular inflow (LV E/A and RV E/A) for assessment of diastolic function. We also measured left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and the ratio of pre-ejection period (PEP) and ejection time
more » ... T) of the left ventricle (PEP/ET) for assessment of systolic function. Both LV E/A and RV E/A decreased significantly with aging while LVEF and PEP/ET remained normal range. The decline rate as aging was greater in LV E/A than in RV E/A. These results showed that both left and right ventricular diastolic function deteriorated with aging while left ventricular systolic function was not noticeably affected by aging. We suggest that indexes of diastolic function are more sensitive than those of systolic function when the natural course is studied in a large population. aging; diastolic function; doppler echocardiography; systolic function

2019 Acta Arachnologica
The web of Phoroncidia altiventris (Araneae: Theridiidae), which had been unknown since its taxonomic description, was recently discovered and confirmed to form an orb-web structure. This result supports the thought that this species should be reassessed and placed in the family Araneidae.

Nominal Regular Expressions for Languages over Infinite Alphabets. Extended Abstract [article]

Alexander Kurz and Tomoyuki Suzuki and Emilio Tuosto
2013 arXiv   pre-print
We propose regular expressions to abstractly model and study properties of resource-aware computations. Inspired by nominal techniques -- as those popular in process calculi -- we extend classical regular expressions with names (to model computational resources) and suitable operators (for allocation, deallocation, scoping of, and freshness conditions on resources). We discuss classes of such nominal regular expressions, show how such expressions have natural interpretations in terms of

Experimental Investigation of Spin Transport Properties in Silicon by Using a Non-local Geometry [article]

2011 arXiv   pre-print
A systematic investigation of spin transport properties in silicon at 8 K by using a non-local geometry is presented. The spin injection signal in the non-local scheme is found to increase in proportion to the evolution of bias electric currents. Theoretical fittings using the Hanle-type spin precession signals reveal that the spin polarization of the transported spin in the Si is much less affected by the change in the bias electric current compared with a case of the other spin devices, which
