Acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS) was one of important herbicidal targets. However, the issue of weed resistance to commercial AHAS inhibitors has become one of the largest obstacles for their application. more »... ed compounds were characterized by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and HRMS. The bioactivity results showed that most of the derivatives displayed good inhibitory activities against P197L mutant. Especially, 2-((4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2yl)oxy)-6-(2-fluoro-4-nitrophenoxy)-4-methylbenzoic acid (6l) was identified as the most potent anti-resistance AHAS inhibitor. In addition, some compounds showed good weed control for resistant Descurainia sophia (P197L AHAS). Most importantly, 2-((4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)oxy)-6-(2-fluorophenoxy)-4-methylbenzoic acid (6b) showed 80% herbicidal activities against sensitive and resistant Descurainia sophia at the dosage of 150 g ai/ha. These results indicated that this type of compounds worth of the further investigation.

We employ several novel techniques to enable Fuxi to perform efficient scheduling of hundreds of thousands of concurrent tasks over large clusters with thousands of nodes: 1) an incremental resource management protocol that supports multi-dimensional resource allocation and data locality; 2) user-transparent failure recovery where failures of any Fuxi components will not impact the execution of user jobs; and 3) an effective detection mechanism and a multi-level blacklisting scheme that prevents them from affecting job execution. Our evaluation results demonstrate that 95% and 91% scheduled CPU/memory utilization can be fulfilled under synthetic workloads, and Fuxi is capable of achieving 2.36T-B/minute throughput in GraySort. Additionally, the same Fuxi job only experiences approximately 16% slowdown under a 5% fault-injection rate. The slowdown only grows to 20% when we double the fault-injection rate to 10%. Fuxi has been deployed in our production environment since 2009, and it now manages hundreds of thousands of server nodes.
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is one of the most popular tropical fruits (called the "Queen of Fruits"), and is a rich source of oxygenated and prenylated xanthone derivatives. In the present work, phytochemical investigation has resulted in one new prenylated xanthone and 13 known xanthones isolated from the pericarp of G. mangostana. Their structures were established by spectroscopic data analysis, including X-ray diffraction. more »... hema to characterize the semantic relatedness of social events and then build an event-based heterogeneous information network (HIN) integrating information from external knowledge base. Second, we propose a novel Pairwise Popularity Graph Convolutional Network, named as PP-GCN, based on weighted meta-path instance similarity and textual semantic representation as inputs, to perform fine-grained social event categorization and learn the optimal weights of meta-paths in different tasks. Third, we propose a streaming social event detection and evolution discovery framework for HINs based on meta-path similarity search, historical information about meta-paths, and heterogeneous DBSCAN clustering method. Comprehensive experiments on real-world streaming social text data are conducted to compare various social event detection and evolution discovery algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed framework outperforms other alternative social event detection and evolution discovery techniques.

more »... this paper, we present our understanding of the current and future challenges in this particular area, and discuss both existing and potential solutions to the problems, especially those concerned with system efficiency, scalability and dependability. We first introduce a data-driven analysis methodology for characterizing the resource and workload patterns and tracing performance bottlenecks in a massive-scale distributed computing environment. We then examine and analyze several fundamental challenges and the solutions we are developing to tackle them, including for example, incremental resource scheduling and incremental messaging communication, decentralized scheduling, rapid system failover, and request handling parallelism etc. We integrate these techniques together with the data analytics methodology to drive a novel big data and service engineering to facilitate the system optimization, tuning and verification. We aim to develop and offer innovative methods and mechanisms for future computing platforms that will provide strong support for new big data and IoE (Internet of Everything) applications.
Polylactic acid (PLA) is limited in its application due to its high price, high brittleness and low glass-transition temperature. Modification methods are currently used to overcome these shortcomings. In this study, Bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP) was blended with PLA by a solvent method.
