For any positive integer n, let σ(n) be the sum of the positive divisors of n. It is known that almost all odd numbers can be represented in the form σ(m) − m for some natural number m. In this paper, we prove that the number of even numbers which are less than x and not of the form σ(m) − m is at least 0.06x + o(x). This improves the lower bound 1 48 x + o(x) obtained by Banks and Luca.

At present, there are a large number of quantum neural network models to deal with Euclidean spatial data, while little research have been conducted on non-Euclidean spatial data. In this paper, we propose a novel quantum graph convolutional neural network (QGCN) model based on quantum parametric circuits and utilize the computing power of quantum systems to accomplish graph classification tasks in traditional machine learning. more » ... graph convolutional neural networks, which can illustrate the topology of the graph type data and efficiently learn the hidden layer representation of node features as well. Numerical simulation results on a graph dataset demonstrate that the proposed model can be effectively trained and has good performance in graph level classification tasks.

This study explores the relationship between China's reproductive health policy and the rate of return on urban education by using fixed-effect, mediating-effect, and breakpoint regression models. The authors study the impact of China's reproductive health policy on individual years of education, income, return on education, the impact of reproductive health policy on population health, and overall human development. The empirical results show that the implementation of China's reproductive
more » ... th policy can improve the rate of return on urban education and increase the average length of education of urban residents by 0.29 years. Under the breakpoint regression model, the educational return rate of urban residents is approximately 12.2% higher than the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimate. China's reproductive health policy has significantly promoted the return rate of residents' education and simultaneously effectively promoted the income of urban residents. With the development of the economy, the government should properly adjust reproductive health policies and improve the population health rate so that the adjustment of reproductive health policies can comprehensively promote the health of residents of all ages. The overall relaxation of family restrictions on children's human capital investment will likely reduce the negative impact of the overall relaxation of family planning, not only improving the health of the population but also contributing to sustainable economic development.

GABA in Paraventricular Nucleus Regulates Adipose Afferent Reflex in Rats

Chemical stimulation of white adipose tissue (WAT) induces adipose afferent reflex (AAR), and thereby causes a general sympathetic activation. Paraventricular nucleus (PVN) is important in control of sympathetic outflow. This study was designed to investigate the role of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in PVN in regulating the AAR. more » ... y recorded. AAR was evaluated by the RSNA and MAP responses to electrical stimulation of the right epididymal WAT (eWAT) afferent nerve. Electrical stimulation of eWAT afferent nerve increase RSNA. Bilateral microinjection of the GABA A receptor agonist isoguvacine or the GABA B receptor agonist baclofen attenuated the AAR. The effect of isoguvacine on the AAR was greater than that of baclofen. The GABA A receptor antagonist gabazine enhanced the AAR, while the GABA B receptor antagonist CGP-35348 had no significant effect on the AAR. Bilateral PVN microinjection of vigabatrin, a selective GABA-transaminase inhibitor, to increase endogenous GABA levels in the PVN abolished the AAR. The inhibitory effect of vigabatrin on the AAR was attenuated by the pretreatment with gabazine or CGP-35348. Pretreatment with combined gabazine and CGP-35348 abolished the effects of vigabatrin.

The third-order optical nonlinearities of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) are investigated using the optical Kerr effect (OKE) and Z-scan techniques with femtosecond pulses. We are able to fit the OKE signal theoretically by convolving the autocorrelation of the incident pulse intensity profile with the impulse responses of the samples, illustrating the instantaneous nonlinear response of DMSO. We verify that the purely electronic cloud distortion causes the observed signal for DMSO. The Z-scan

Structure transformation and magnetisms in Ho2Ni7-xFex compounds

Based on the composite compounds Ho 2 Ni 7−x Fe x (x = 0-3.0), a method of describing the structure transition from rhombohedral to hexagonal is discussed in terms of free electron concentration. The transition is investigated by X-ray powder diffraction and magnetic analysis. The compounds crystallize into the rhombohedral Gd 2 Co 7 -type structure for x = 0-0.5 and into the hexagonal Ce 2 Ni 7 -type structure for x = 0.5-2.5. The values of lattice parameters a and c of the Ho 2 Ni 7−x Fe x
more » ... pounds increase with the addition of Fe, and the saturation magnetization M s decreases with Fe content increasing at a rate of dM s /dx = −2, manifesting antiparallel alignments of the Fe and Ho moment. The higher the free electron concentration, the stabler the rhombohedral structure is, otherwise the hexagonal structure is stabler, which provides a meaningful parameter to distinguish the two allotropies in composite structure intermetallics.

It remains obscure how to medically manage visceral obesity that predisposes metabolic disorders. Here, we show for the first time that a trace amount of artemisinin (0.25 mg/kg) reduces adipose weight in an inflammatory obese mouse model induced by a high-fat diet with lipopolysaccharide (HFD+LPS). HFD+LPS trigger pro-inflammatory responses, upregulate NOS2 expression, elicit potent nitric oxide (NO) burst, and reinforce adipose mitochondrial dysfunctions that facilitate adipogenesis for

By targeting mitochondrial complexes, artemisinin resembles the NO donor nitroglycerin to exert anti-inflammatory effects, downregulate NOS2 expression, maintain stable NO release, and augment adipose mitochondrial functions that necessitate adipolysis for visceral weight loss. Taken together, artemisinin plays adipose weight-reducing roles by rectifying inflammation-driven mitochondrial dysfunctions.

In recent years, adversarial attacks have drawn more attention for their value on evaluating and improving the robustness of machine learning models, especially, neural network models. However, previous attack methods have mainly focused on applying some l^p norm-bounded noise perturbations. In this paper, we instead introduce a novel adversarial attack method based on haze, which is a common phenomenon in real-world scenery. more » ... ased on the atmospheric scattering model with high realisticity and mislead classifiers to predict an incorrect class. We launch experiments on two popular datasets, i.e., ImageNet and NIPS 2017. We demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a high success rate, and holds better transferability across different classification models than the baselines. We also visualize the correlation matrices, which inspire us to jointly apply different perturbations to improve the success rate of the attack. We hope this work can boost the development of non-noise-based adversarial attacks and help evaluate and improve the robustness of DNNs.
