A panel of 30 well-characterized strains representative of each genomovar and new species was assembled to assist with identification, epidemiological analysis, and virulence studies on this important group of opportunistic pathogens.

In this work, we discuss use of machine learning techniques for rapid prediction of detonation properties including explosive energy, detonation velocity, and detonation pressure. Further, analysis is applied to individual molecules in order to explore the contribution of bonding motifs to these properties. Feature descriptors evaluated include Morgan fingerprints, E-state vectors, a custom "sum over bonds" descriptor, and coulomb matrices. Algorithms discussed include kernel ridge regression,
more » ... east absolute shrinkage and selection operator ("LASSO") regression, Gaussian process regression, and the multi-layer perceptron (a neural network). Effects of regularization, kernel selection, network parameters, and dimensionality reduction are discussed. We determine that even when using a small training set, non-linear regression methods may create models within a useful error tolerance for screening of materials.

THIS PAGE unclassified Standard Form 298 (Rev. 8-98) ABSTRACT The formation and strength of dislocations in the hexagonal closed packed material beryllium are studied through dislocation junctions and the critical stress required to break them. Dislocation dynamics calculations (using the code ParaDiS) of junction maps are compared to an analytical line tension approximation in order to validate our model. Results show that the two models agree very well. Also the critical shear stress necessary to break 30 o -30 o and 30 o -90 o dislocation junctions is computed numerically. Yield surfaces are mapped out for these junctions to describe their stability regions as function of resolved shear stresses on the glide planes. The example of two non-coplanar binary dislocation junctions with slip planes [2-1-10] (01-10) and [-12-10] (0001) corresponding to a prismatic and basal slip respectively is chosen to verify and validate our implementation.

Interlayer correlation of embedded quantum-dot arrays through their surface strain energy distributions

We propose an interlayer correlation of multilayer quantum-dot ͑QD͒ distributions from a rigorous strain energy calculation. This leads to a map of correlations, or interlayer alignment, based solely on lateral and vertical spacing ͑xdist / b versus hdist / h͒. We identify four distinct correlation regimes-aligned correlation, antialigned correlation, noncorrelation, and the transition zone between the aligned and antialigned correlation. Our prediction matches well with available experimental
more » ... ata for a broad range of semiconductors with low elastic anisotropy ͓A =2C 44 / ͑C 11 −C 12 ͒ Ͻ 2͔ and can further predict the QD array distribution for those with high elastic anisotropy ͑A Ն 2͒ by a simple shift in hdist / h. The agreement spans both IV-VI and III-V systems. Moreover, the aligned correlation regime produces a large decay in strain energy magnitudes in subsequently grown layers, which may contribute to their observed larger nucleation domains.
