Cyberbullying and partner cyberviolence: Related phenomena?

This study focuses on analyzing different issues related to violence, such as the presence of violence through the Internet, the phenomenon of Cyberbullying and its relationship with the perpetration of violence against the partner, also through information technologies (ICT). The study takes into account the type of violence exercised through ICT, whether it is violence against the peer group, or violence against the partner. The sample is made up of 639 adolescents, between 12 and 18 years
more &raquo; ... , studying at four high schools. The results show that there is a relationship between the exercise of both forms of violence through the Internet. It can be inferred that those adolescents who exert violence towards their peers through social networks have a greater probability of attacking their partners through this same channel. Finally, the practical implications of these results are discussed.

Vertical Extension and Improving of Existing Buildings

Low-density urban models, widely diffused in Spain until 2008, have been strongly criticized because they produce a great strain on the land, high infrastructure costs, increasing maintenance expenses, energy waste and pollution from excessive transport, time wasted commuting and more bedroom communities. To counterbalance this effect, opponents are claiming for a review of the capacity that the conventional city, with its higher population density and mixed uses, may still possess. One
more &raquo; ... ity that has been explored is the vertical extension of buildings, which capitalizes on the remaining buildable space characteristic of many older buildings, and at the same time, refurbishes the housing block and improves standards of energy efficiency, safety and accessibility. The challenge is not only technical -it is clear what needs to be done and how to do it -but it is also social and fiscal; in other words, how do we get organized and how do we finance such a project? The preferred construction system for vertical extensions is industrialized and uses two main materials: steel and wood. The system involves the use of two-dimensional panels and 3D pods that, once completed in the factory, are transported to the worksite, lifted by a crane and installed on the roof of the building. From refurbishing the existing building to adding the new vertical extension, the entire operation takes four months. The experience of this vision and its application in the area of the Example in Barcelona, coming soon to other central neighborhoods in Spanish cities, allows us to present our first results: the detection of over 2,000 buildings with remaining buildable space, the need to vertically extend 50 buildings and our completed projects, in some cases already inhabited, of which half a dozen are currently undergoing environmental evaluation using our own tool.

Mass transport model through the skin by microencapsulation system

Skin drug delivery can be subdivided into topical and transdermal. In a topical administration, the drug is intended to act at skin level, this is indicated for the treatment of skin diseases such as follicle-related disorders (for example, acne and alopecias). The aim of transdermal administration is getting a systemic release, and in this case the skin represents a barrier and not a target. Transdermal administration can take advantage of chemical and physical strategies that can improve skin
more &raquo; ... permeability and can allow to drug penetration. In this study the development of the skin penetration profile have carried out by in vitro technique for a microencapsulated system of Ibuprofen and was determined using pig skin. The release experiments are performed using absorption percutaneous test with Franz cells apparatus in order to know the evolution of the amount of the principle present in each of the different skin compartments (stratum corneum, epidermis and dermis) as well as in the receptor fluid, as a function of time by HPLC analysis. It has achieved a general kinetic model by a microencapsulated system as mass transport system through the skin. This modelization could serve to predict penetration in human skin of encapsulated substances from biofunctional textiles and the estimation of the dosification profile of the active principle.

Enhancement of Frequency Stability Using Synchronization of a Cantilever Array for MEMS-Based Sensors

Micro and nano electromechanical resonators have been widely used as single or multiple-mass detection sensors. Smaller devices with higher resonance frequencies and lower masses offer higher mass responsivities but suffer from lower frequency stability. Synchronization phenomena in multiple MEMS resonators have become an important issue because they allow frequency stability improvement, thereby preserving mass responsivity. The frequency stability has been determined in closed-loop configuration for long periods of time by calculating the Allan deviation. An Allan deviation of 0.013 ppm (@ 1 s averaging time) for a 1 MHz cantilever array MEMS system was obtained at the synchronized mode, which represents a 23-fold improvement in comparison with the non-synchronized operation mode (0.3 ppm).

The interests of citizens are coming to the forefront nowadays with the awareness that a livable city does not only consist of good infrastructure and sustainable energy supply but also citizen input and feedback. The main goal of the paper is to present the use of digital transformation in processes of urban design through Virtual Reality in which specialized users can analyze, represent and transmit ideas, problems and solutions for the design of urban space. The hypothesis is based on demonstrating the following two statements: (1) the implementation of virtual gamified strategies in the field of urban design helps to critically evaluate the result of urban design, make decisions and understand the location conditions, dimensions and relationships of urban spaces thanks to enhanced visual technologies. (2) The interactive Virtual Reality system helps for the understanding of three-dimensional space and the human scale immersive perception in Virtual Reality could be a tool to defend the arguments of urban projects. The urban project we work on, promoted by the Barcelona City Council, aims to generate spaces that are designed to meet the needs of the users. The spaces are modeled virtually, intended to be an accessible environment where users (professionals related to the construction and design field) can interact -playwith, to recreate new spaces. These spaces are meant to have maximum realism, including the materials, textures, movements, and even sounds of the environment. The system is tested on the Barcelona Building Construmat Fair using a quantitative method. The data obtained from the assessment exemplify the effectiveness of virtual systems on the urban design process. The results obtained from inquiries to 79 citizens -specialized in the construction and design field -, showed that it is possible to empower Digital Transformation as Virtual Reality systems increase the understanding of the space. The results show that the system helps: 1) to identify the needs and requirements of the human scale and the relationship between people and the natural or artificial environment and objects; 2) to critically evaluate the result of an urban design and make decisions; 3) to transmit problems, solutions and ideas, to a non-specialized and specialized public, 4) apply formal, functional and technical basic principles to the conception and design of urban complexes; among others. It is proven that is a system that eases the representation and argumentation of urban projects. Knowing the interactive Virtual Reality system, participants specialized in the construction and design field were motivated to change the way of working on the future. The end of the paper is to present a visualization of the results, in a way designed to be attractive and informative for users so the conducted analysis may be reproducible in other urban data contexts. The topics that are approached on this paper are: (1) A descriptive analysis of different technologies that can be incorporated to ease the process of urban design. (2) A selection of one of these technologies to model the scenario that will be studied. (3) The exposition and evaluation of a case study and the analysis of the results. And (4) the explanation of the conclusions and next steps to take.

Implications for Research: Consistent development and use of nursing concepts is essential for knowledge building. Studies on the actual use of nursing diagnoses are needed to inform decision making.

Direct As(V) Determination Using Screen-Printed Electrodes Modified with Silver Manoparticles

Carbon-nanofiber-based screen-printed electrodes modified with silver nanoparticles (Ag-NP-SPCNFEs) were tested in a pioneering manner for the direct determination of As(V) at low μg L–1 levels by means of differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry. Screen-printed electrodes were modified with two different types of Ag-NPs, nanoseeds (NS), and nanoprisms (NPr) and characterized both microscopically and electrochemically. These results suggest that Ag-NS offer a better analytical response compared to Ag-NPr, with a detection and quantification limit of 0.6 and 1.9 µg L–1, respectively. The proposed methodology was validated using a spiked tap water sample with a very high reproducibility and good agreement with inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) measurements.

A Cluster-Randomized Trial of Hydroxychloroquine as Prevention of Covid-19 Transmission and Disease [article]

Current strategies for preventing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections are limited to non-pharmacological interventions. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has been proposed as a postexposure therapy to prevent Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) but definitive evidence is lacking. Methods We conducted an open-label, cluster-randomized trial including asymptomatic contacts exposed to a PCR-positive Covid-19 case in Catalonia, Spain. Clusters were randomized to receive
more &raquo; ... specific therapy (control arm) or HCQ 800mg once, followed by 400mg daily for 6 days (intervention arm). The primary outcome was PCR-confirmed symptomatic Covid-19 within 14 days. The secondary outcome was SARS-CoV-2 infection, either symptomatically compatible or a PCR-positive result regardless of symptoms. Adverse events (AEs) were assessed up to 28 days. Results The analysis included 2,314 healthy contacts of 672 Covid-19 index cases identified between Mar 17 and Apr 28, 2020. A total of 1,198 were randomly allocated to usual care and 1,116 to HCQ therapy. There was no significant difference in the primary outcome of PCR-confirmed, symptomatic Covid-19 disease (6.2% usual care vs. 5.7% HCQ; risk ratio 0.89 [95% confidence interval 0.54-1.46]), nor evidence of beneficial effects on prevention of SARS-CoV-2 transmission (17.8% usual care vs. 18.7% HCQ). The incidence of AEs was higher in the intervention arm than in the control arm (5.9% usual care vs 51.6% HCQ), but no treatment-related serious AEs were reported. Conclusions Postexposure therapy with HCQ did not prevent SARS-CoV-2 disease and infection in healthy individuals exposed to a PCR-positive case. Our findings do not support HCQ as postexposure prophylaxis for Covid-19.
