The use of deep learning has grown at an exponential rate, giving rise to numerous specialized hardware and software systems for deep learning. Because the design space of deep learning software stacks and hardware accelerators is diverse and vast, prior work considers software optimizations separately from hardware architectures, effectively reducing the search space. Unfortunately, this bifurcated approach means that many profitable design points are never explored. This paper instead casts
more » ... e problem as hardware/software co-design, with the goal of automatically identifying desirable points in the joint design space. The key to our solution is a new constrained Bayesian optimization framework that avoids invalid solutions by exploiting the highly constrained features of this design space, which are semi-continuous/semi-discrete. We evaluate our optimization framework by applying it to a variety of neural models, improving the energy-delay product by 18% (ResNet) and 40% (DQN) over hand-tuned state-of-the-art systems, as well as demonstrating strong results on other neural network architectures, such as MLPs and Transformers.

Cancer therapy is a growing field, and annually, a high number of research is performed to develop novel antitumor drugs. Attempts to find new antitumor drugs continue, since cancer cells are able to acquire resistance to conventional drugs. more » ... s, such as antidiabetes, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective. Among them, the antitumor activity of NOB has been under attention over recent years. In this review, we comprehensively describe the efficacy of NOB in cancer therapy. NOB induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in cancer cells. It can suppress migration and invasion of cancer cells via the inhibition of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and EMT-related factors such as TGF-β, ZEB, Slug, and Snail. Besides, NOB inhibits oncogene factors such as STAT3, NF-κB, Akt, PI3K, Wnt, and so on. Noteworthy, onco-suppressor factors such as microRNA-7 and -200b undergo upregulation by NOB in cancer therapy. These onco-suppressor and oncogene pathways and mechanisms are discussed in this review.

Single Umbilical Stoma for Bilateral Ureterostomy after Radical Cystectomy

Cutaneous ureterostomy after radical cystectomy is less preferred compared with other permanent urinary diversions due to bilateral stomas. Single umbilical stoma for bilateral ureterostomy (SUSBU) may be an alternative choice to, in this study we reviewed the outcomes of SUSBU in seventeen patients who underwent radical cystectomy. Methods and Materials: This was a case-series study conducted from April 2016 to Des 2017. Seventeen male patients with confirmed PT2 bladder urothelial carcinoma
more » ... o were not suitable for performing conduit or orthotopic urinary diversion, including those with high-risk patients underwent single umbilical stoma for bilateral ureterostomy after radical cystectomy. All patients were prospectively followed up for 24 months ± 2 months, this study was done in teaching center mainly by senior residents. Results: The mean age of patients was 68.6 ± 6.41 years old. Mean length of operation time was 176.7 ± 15.1 minutes (from intubation to extubation from anesthesia). Sixteen patients were diagnosed with PT2 and one patient had PT4 diagnosis. The decrease in hemoglobin level after surgery was 1.72 mg/dl ± 0.35 and creatinine increased by 0.15 ± 0.05 mg/dl. None of our patients had oliguria. One case developed constipation and no gas passing, with the suspicion of obstruction, underwent abdominal exploration, however, no obstruction or urine leakage was found and the patient was treated conservatively. One patient developed fever during admission, in which atelectasis was identified as the cause. One patient underwent a second operation because of fascia adherence. Conclusion: It seems that this technique is suitable for high risk patients with acceptable operating time, surgical complications and fast recovery after operation and one ureterostomy bag instead of two one's comparing to bilateral cutaneous ureterostomy.

Filtered runahead execution with a runahead buffer

Runahead execution dynamically expands the instruction window of an out of order processor to generate memory level parallelism (MLP) while the core would otherwise be stalled. Unfortunately, runahead has the disadvantage of requiring the front-end to remain active to supply instructions. We propose a new structure (the Runahead Buffer) for supplying these instructions. We note that cache misses are often caused by repetitive, short dependence chains. We store these dependence chains in the
more » ... head buffer. During runahead, the runahead buffer is used to supply instructions. This generates 2x more MLP than traditional runahead on average because the core can run further ahead. It also saves energy since the front-end can be clockgated, reducing dynamic energy consumption. Over a no-prefetching/prefetching baseline, the result is a performance benefit of 17.2%/7.8% and an energy reduction of 6.7%/4.5% respectively. Traditional runahead with additional energy optimizations results in a performance benefit of 12.1%/5.9% but an energy increase of 9.5%/5.4%. Finally, we propose a hybrid policy that switches between the runahead buffer and traditional runahead, maximizing performance.

Noteworthy, it has been demonstrated that curcumin affects different molecular signaling pathways such as Wnt/β-catenin, Nrf2, AMPK, mitogen-activated protein kinase and so on. In the present review, we evaluate the potential of curcumin in regulation of TGF-β signaling pathway to corelate it with therapeutic impacts of curcumin. By modulation of TGF-β (both upregulation and down-regulation), curcumin ameliorates fibrosis, neurological disorders, liver disease, diabetes and asthma. Besides, curcumin targets TGF-β signaling pathway which is capable of suppressing proliferation of tumor cells and invading cancer cells.

Endoscopic Dilatation of Meatal Stenosis of Ureterocele in Adult Patients: An Easy and Innovative Technique

This study presents initial experience in endoscopic meatal dilatation of obstructive ureterocele in adult patients. During cystourethroscopy, we tried to find the orifice of ureterocele, passed a guide wire and introduce an 8 Fr ureteroscope in to the ureterocele orifice, going up to the renal pelvis as under vision dilatation of ureterocele meatus.
