In particular, we establish effective mixing of all orders for actions of semisimple Lie groups as well as semisimple S-algebraic groups and semisimple adele groups. ...
It is not known, for instance, whether for Z-actions mixing of order two implies mixing of order three, and there are examples of Z 2 -actions which are mixing of order two, but not mixing of order three ...

The Mixed Page Number of Graphs

In this work we initiate the study of the mixed page number of a graph which corresponds to the minimum number of such sets. First, we study the edge density of graphs with bounded mixed page number. ...
Mixed linear layouts combine these layouts by allowing each set of edges to form either a stack or a queue. ...
We start with our lower number on the mixed page number of K n . Lemma 1. The mixed page number of K n is at least 3(n−4) 8 . Proof. ...

UCDs - a mixed bag of objects
[article]
2006
arXiv
pre-print
The name "Ultra-Compact Dwarf Galaxy" (UCD) was invented for a new type of astronomical object that has been discovered in cores of nearby galaxy clusters a decade ago. UCDs resemble globular clusters, but are up to 100 times more massive and slightly more extended. Their luminosities are comparable to those of nuclei of the most massive dwarf ellipticals or late-type spirals. Various formation scenarios have been brought forward to explain the origin and evolution of UCDs. Two of them seem to

... e most promising: first, UCDs might be the remnant nuclei of galaxies that have been disrupted in the cluster environment. Second, UCDs might have formed from the agglomeration of many young, massive star clusters that were created during ancient merger events. In this contribution, I review the discovery history of UCDs, summarize their observational properties in the fundamental plane of stellar systems and discuss the implications for the different formation scenarios based on our current knowledge about these enigmatic objects.

Improved Mixed-Example Data Augmentation
[article]
2019
arXiv

By considering this broader scope of "mixed-example data augmentation", we find a much larger space of practical augmentation techniques, including methods that improve upon previous state-of-the-art. ...
This generalization has benefits beyond the promise of improved performance, revealing a number of types of mixed-example data augmentation that are radically different from those considered in prior work ...

Coloring mixed QCD/QED evolution
[article]
