With recent improvements in survival duration after cancer treatment, it is becoming increasingly important to study treatment-related morbidity and mortality. Radiation-induced sarcomas in the irradiated field are well-known potential late sequelae of radiotherapy. These tumors are biologically aggressive. In the case described here, a radiation-induced fibrosarcoma appeared at 20 years after initial surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy for an osteosarcoma of the mandibular condyle.

Abstract: Parry-Romberg syndrome is a disease characterized by progressive hemifacial atrophy. Multiple surgical procedures have been used to improve the facial volume and contours of patients with this disease, including alloplastic, silicone, or collagen implants; lipofilling; and pedicled or free-flap transplants. The present case describes the successful application of lipostructure to treat a woman with Parry-Romberg syndrome affecting the left side of her face.

A UA site in an undecaribonucleotide was cleaved by a ribozyme consisting of two partially paired oligoribonucleotides with chain lengths of 19 and 15. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the tongue is the most common oral cancer. Most cases occur on the lateral border of the tongue and only very rarely on the dorsum. We retrospectively investigated the incidence of SCC of the tongue dorsum in our department between April 2006 and March 2015. Treatment consisted of superselective intra-arterial infusions (docetaxel, total 60mg/m 2 ; cisplatin, total 150mg/m 2 ) and daily concurrent radiotherapy (total 60 Gy) for 6 weeks. Patients underwent biopsy of the primary lesion and radiological examinations 4 weeks after the completion of all treatments. Complete response (CR) of the primary site was achieved in 14 (82.4%) patients. Among them, 1 patient showed local recurrence and 1 patient showed cervical and pulmonary metastases. Four patients died, 1 of pulmonary metastases, 1 of cervical metastases, and 2 of uncontrolled local lesion during follow-up. Two-year cumulative local control and overall survival rates by the Kaplan-Meier method were 76.5% and 81.4%, respectively. ... orce. The von Mises stress on the resected region was the highest when two implants were bilaterally placed at positions closest to the resected region. The von Mises stress value on the resected region could be high enough to induce the bone fracture. The mechanical stress was reduced up to < 50 % by adding implant at posterior position and connecting all implants. The presence of superstructure on 4 or 6 implants signifi cantly decreased the von Mises stress when the residual bone height was 10 or 15 mm. Use of 6 implants showed no signifi cant advantage at the stress reduction compared to use of 4 implants. When the residual bone height was 5 mm, reinforcement of the residual bone or bone graft should be considered to avoid the bone fracture. Although the present results were obtained under restrictive conditions, the number of implant, implant position, and prostheses style could reduce the von Mises stress and the risk of bone fracture on the resected region.
