This paper studies the problem of 3D volumetric reconstruction from two views of a scene with an unknown camera. While seemingly easy for humans, this problem poses many challenges for computers since it requires simultaneously reconstructing objects in the two views while also figuring out their relationship. We propose a new approach that estimates reconstructions, distributions over the camera/object and camera/camera transformations, as well as an inter-view object affinity matrix. This
more » ... rmation is then jointly reasoned over to produce the most likely explanation of the scene. We train and test our approach on a dataset of indoor scenes, and rigorously evaluate the merits of our joint reasoning approach. Our experiments show that it is able to recover reasonable scenes from sparse views, while the problem is still challenging. Project site: https://jasonqsy.github.io/Associative3D

We propose to investigate detecting and characterizing the 3D planar articulation of objects from ordinary videos. While seemingly easy for humans, this problem poses many challenges for computers. We propose to approach this problem by combining a top-down detection system that finds planes that can be articulated along with an optimization approach that solves for a 3D plane that can explain a sequence of observed articulations. We show that this system can be trained on a combination of

The paper studies planar surface reconstruction of indoor scenes from two views with unknown camera poses. While prior approaches have successfully created object-centric reconstructions of many scenes, they fail to exploit other structures, such as planes, which are typically the dominant components of indoor scenes. In this paper, we reconstruct planar surfaces from multiple views, while jointly estimating camera pose. Our experiments demonstrate that our method is able to advance the state

An Annuitization Problem in the Tax-Deferred Annuity Model

This paper examines the optimal annuitization, investment, and consumption strategies of an individual facing a time-dependent mortality rate in the tax-deferred annuity model and considers both the case when the rate of buying annuities is unrestricted and the case when it is restricted. At the beginning, by using the dynamic programming principle, we obtain the corresponding HJB equation. Since the existence of the tax and the time-dependence of the value function make the corresponding HJB
more » ... uation hard to solve, firstly, we analyze the problem in a simpler case and use some numerical methods to get the solution and some of its useful properties. Then, by using the obtained properties and Kuhn–Tucker conditions, we discuss the problem in general cases and get the value functions and the optimal annuitization strategies, respectively.

In this paper, we study the optimal execution problem by considering the trading signal and the transaction risk simultaneously. We propose an optimal execution problem by taking into account the trading signal and the execution risk with the associated decay kernel function and the transient price impact function being of generalized forms. In particular, we solve the stochastic optimal control problems under the assumptions that the decay kernel function is the Dirac function and the
more » ... price function is a linear function. We give the optimal executing strategies in state-feedback form and the Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Bellman equations that the corresponding value functions satisfy in the cases of a constant execution risk and a linear execution risk. We also demonstrate that our results can recover previous results when the process of the trading signal degenerates.

The transportation sector already accounts for 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, controlling carbon emissions in the transportation sector has become a top priority for China and other countries around the world. In addition to the technological development of clean energy transportation, the most critical aspect of the globalization of new energy transportation industry and market is the optimization of access routes. This paper will be based on road travel time estimation and
more » ... optimal path selection of energy efficient transportation research hotspots. Firstly, the accuracy of road travel time estimation is improved according to the basic law of traffic flow. At the same time, this paper defines the optimal route into two cases of shortest path and shortest time for solving. Finally, the actual solution process is given according to the actual problem, as well as the optimal route, aiming to promote the strong development in the field of intelligent navigation system and energy-efficient transportation.

An equity-indexed annuity (EIA) contract offers a proportional participation in the return on a specified equity index, in addition to a guaranteed return on the single premium. In this paper, we discuss the valuation of equity-indexed annuities under stochastic mortality and interest rate which are assumed to be dependent on each other. Employing the method of change of measure, we present the pricing formulas in closed form for the most common product designs: the point-to-point and the
more » ... reset. Finally, we conduct several numerical experiments, in which we analyze the relationship between some parameters and the pricing of EIAs.

Aim. Cirrhosis is rare in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients with a poor prognosis. This study is aimed at retrospectively analyzing our single-center experience to explore the characteristics of cirrhosis in SLE patients. Methods. SLE patients with cirrhosis from 2012 to 2019 were enrolled. SLE diagnosis was rigorously confirmed by a medical record review according to the revised 1997 American College of Rheumatology classification criteria for SLE. The diagnosis of liver cirrhosis
more » ... based on a combination of clinical, laboratory, and imaging criteria features. We conducted a case-control study in SLE patients complicated with the cirrhosis group and the age-, sex-, and entry-time-matched noncirrhosis group. Results. A total of 21 patients with SLE cirrhosis were enrolled, 3 males and 18 females. The median age at the time of cirrhosis diagnosis was 47.3±4.0 years, and the mean disease duration of SLE before cirrhosis was 4.7±1.0 years. The most common initial presentation was the involvement of the hematological system in 9 patients and then skin and mucosal involvement in 5 patients, arthritis in 4 patients, and nephritis in 3 patients. Patients with cirrhosis had a significantly higher rate of hematological system involvement (thrombocytopenia and leukopenia) and worse liver function; a higher level of immune globulin G had higher mortality (p<0.05) than patients without cirrhosis. Conclusions. Cirrhosis is a rare and severe subtype of SLE with a poor prognosis. Those patients with hematological system involvement and impaired liver function should be paid more attention.

A 20-year-old man was admitted because of intermittent fever, epistaxis, chest pain, and hemoptysis for 11 months. He was positive for cytoplasmic pattern of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) and his PR3-ANCA was 158 IU/mL. The chest computerized tomography (CT) showed multiple pulmonary nodules and hollow shadows in both lungs. Fine needle aspiration lung biopsy of the pulmonary nodules revealed pathological features of granulomatous inflammation. He was diagnosed with granulomatosis
more » ... polyangiitis (GPA) and was treated with high dose prednisone and oral cyclophosphamide, which resulted in a prompt response. However, he developed nocardia pneumonia and meningitis 6 months later. Cyclophosphamide was discontinued and the dose of prednisone was tapered quickly. He was treated with trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazol, combined with imipenem/ cilastatin. His lung and intracranial infections subsided, and the chest CT returned to clear again after the antibiotic treatment. However, the patient suffered from dry cough and fever again, and his CT scan showed a sign of "tree in bud" (Figure 1, Panel A) , which was presented with multiple nodules and cavities distributed along bronchovascular pedicles. [1, 2] After a comprehensive workup for infectious pathogens (including bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, and nocardia), a repeated lung biopsy was conducted through video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). The histopathologic examination demonstrated features of chronic granuloma with necrosis, vasculitis, and microabscess, which was consistent with the diagnosis of GPA (Figure 1, Panel B) . This "tree in bud" sign showed significant improvement after highdose prednisone and cyclophosphamide therapy.

This paper studies the hedging problem of unit-linked life insurance contracts in an incomplete market presence of self-exciting (clustering) effect, which is described by a Hawkes process. Applying the local riskminimization method, we manage to obtain closed-form expressions of the locally risk-minimizing hedging strategies for both pure endowment and term insurance contracts. Besides, we demonstrate the existence of the minimal martingale measure and perform numerical analyses. Our numerical

Bivariate extreme-value distributions have been used in modeling extremes in environmental sciences and risk management. An important issue is estimating the dependence function, such as the Pickands dependence function. Some estimators for the Pickands dependence function have been studied by assuming that the marginals are known. Recently, Genest and Segers [Ann. Statist. 37 (2009) 2990-3022] derived the asymptotic distributions of those proposed estimators with marginal distributions
more » ... by the empirical distributions. In this article, we propose a class of weighted estimators including those of Genest and Segers (2009) as special cases. We propose a jackknife empirical likelihood method for constructing confidence intervals for the Pickands dependence function, which avoids estimating the complicated asymptotic variance. A simulation study demonstrates the effectiveness of our proposed jackknife empirical likelihood method.

MiRNA-induced gene silencing (MIGS) technology is a special kind of RNA interference technology that uses miR173 to mediate the production of trans-acting siRNA (ta-siRNA) to achieve target gene silencing. This technique has successfully mediated the silencing of interested genes in plants such as Arabidopsis, tobacco, petunia, etc. In order to establish the MIGS technology system in monocots such as rice, we constructed the MIGS backbone vectors pZHY930, pZHY931, pZHY932, and pZHY933 with
more » ... rent with promoters to regulate the expression of miR173 and miR173_ts. The rice OsPDS reporter gene was selected to compare the efficiency of four MIGS backbone vectors by the ratio of albino plants. The results showed that all the four backbone vectors could effectively mediate the target gene silencing, and pZHY932 showed highest efficiency up to 90%. Through MIGS silencing of endogenous OsROC5 and OsLZAY1 in rice, we successfully obtained rice mutant plants with rice leaf roll and tillering angles increasing, and further confirmed that MIGS backbone vector can efficiently mediate target gene silencing in rice. On the other hand, in order to verify the efficiency of MIGS-mediated multi-gene silencing in rice, we constructed two double-gene silencing vectors OsPDS and OsROC5, OsPDS and OsLZAY1, based on pZHY932 backbone vector. Double mutant rice plants with increased leaf and albino tiller angles. And we successfully obtained bladed leaf albino seedling and increased tillering angle albino seedling doublesilencing mutations. We further constructed a MIGS-OsGBSS gene silencing vector and obtained rice materials with significantly reduced amylose content. This result indicated that MIGS could be an efficient method in monocots gene silencing and gene function analysis.
