2019 Thoracic Cancer
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most prevalent pathological subtype of lung cancer. Kinesin family member 18A (KIF18A) plays an important role in tumorigenesis. Its roles in breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and other tumors have been demonstrated; however, studies of KIF18A in LUAD are limited. This study aimed to determine the role of KIF18A in LUAD progression and prognostic prediction.

Crossover Designs With Two Binary Endpoints

Linlin Zhang, Jin Xu
2018 Figshare
We propose a crossover design for simultaneous significance testing of two binary endpoints, in which the AB/BA crossover design is carried out for each endpoint. An asymptotic α-level test is obtained by applying the intersection-union principle to the marginal Mainland–Gart tests. Power approximations and sample size calculation are derived and implemented in R programs. An adaptive design with sample size reestimation is also presented. We demonstrate the numerical accuracy of the proposed

Measurements of Quarkonium Production and Polarization at CMS [article]

Linlin Zhang
2013 arXiv   pre-print
The polarizations of Y(nS) (n=1,2,3) and prompt J/\psi and \psi(2S), as well as the differential cross section of the Y(nS), are measured in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, using a dimuon data sample collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb-1. The differential cross section is measured as a function of transverse momentum of Y(nS). The data show a transition from exponential to power-law behavior in the neighborhood of 20 GeV,
more » ... nd the power-law exponents for all three states are consistent. The polarization parameters \lambda\theta, \lambda\phi, and \lambda\theta\phi, as well as the frame-invariant quantity \lambda, are measured from the dimuon decay angular distributions in three different polarization frames. No evidence of large polarizations is seen in these kinematic regions, which extend much beyond those previously explored.

Adaptive FPGA NoC-based Architecture for Multispectral Image Correlation [article]

Linlin Zhang, Virginie Fresse
2009 arXiv   pre-print
An adaptive FPGA architecture based on the NoC (Network-on-Chip) approach is used for the multispectral image correlation. This architecture must contain several distance algorithms depending on the characteristics of spectral images and the precision of the authentication. The analysis of distance algorithms is required which bases on the algorithmic complexity, result precision, execution time and the adaptability of the implementation. This paper presents the comparison of these distance

Keystroke Dynamics is an important biometric solution for person authentication. Based upon keystroke dynamics, this paper designs an embedded password protection device, develops an online system, collects two public databases for promoting the research on keystroke authentication, exploits the Gabor filter bank to characterize keystroke dynamics, and provides benchmark results of three popular classification algorithms, one-class support vector machine, Gaussian classifier, and nearest neighbour classifier.

Graph Pruning for Model Compression [article]

Mingyang Zhang, Xinyi Yu, Jingtao Rong, Linlin Ou
2021 arXiv   pre-print
Previous AutoML pruning works utilized individual layer features to automatically prune filters. We analyze the correlation for two layers from the different blocks which have a short-cut structure. It shows that, in one block, the deeper layer has many redundant filters which can be represented by filters in the former layer. So, it is necessary to take information from other layers into consideration in pruning. In this paper, a novel pruning method, named GraphPruning, is proposed. Any
more » ... of the network is viewed as a graph. To automatically aggregate neighboring features for each node, a graph aggregator based on graph convolution networks(GCN) is designed. In the training stage, a PruningNet that is given aggregated node features generates reasonable weights for any size of the sub-network. Subsequently, the best configuration of the Pruned Network is searched by reinforcement learning. Different from previous work, we take the node features from a well-trained graph aggregator instead of the hand-craft features, as the states in reinforcement learning. Compared with other AutoML pruning works, our method has achieved the state-of-the-art under the same conditions on ImageNet-2012.

Context-Adaptive Document-Level Neural Machine Translation [article]

Linlin Zhang
2021 arXiv   pre-print
Most existing document-level neural machine translation (NMT) models leverage a fixed number of the previous or all global source sentences to handle the context-independent problem in standard NMT. However, the translating of each source sentence benefits from various sizes of context, and inappropriate context may harm the translation performance. In this work, we introduce a data-adaptive method that enables the model to adopt the necessary and useful context. Specifically, we introduce a

Face Presentation Attack Detection using Taskonomy Feature [article]

Wentian Zhang, Haozhe Liu, Raghavendra Ramachandra, Feng Liu, Linlin Shen, Christoph Busch
2021 arXiv   pre-print
The robustness and generalization ability of Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) methods is critical to ensure the security of Face Recognition Systems (FRSs). However, in the real scenario, Presentation Attacks (PAs) are various and hard to be collected. Existing PAD methods are highly dependent on the limited training set and cannot generalize well to unknown PAs. Unlike PAD task, other face-related tasks trained by huge amount of real faces (e.g. face recognition and attribute editing) can
more » ... effectively adopted into different application scenarios. Inspired by this, we propose to apply taskonomy (task taxonomy) from other face-related tasks to solve face PAD, so as to improve the generalization ability in detecting PAs. The proposed method, first introduces task specific features from other face-related tasks, then, we design a Cross-Modal Adapter using a Graph Attention Network (GAT) to re-map such features to adapt to PAD task. Finally, face PAD is achieved by using the hierarchical features from a CNN-based PA detector and the re-mapped features. The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve significant improvements in the complicated and hybrid datasets, when compared with the state-of-the-art methods. In particular, when trained using OULU-NPU, CASIA-FASD, and Idiap Replay-Attack, we obtain HTER (Half Total Error Rate) of 5.48% in MSU-MFSD, outperforming the baseline by 7.39%. Code will be made publicly available.

Optimal Dividend of Compound Poisson Process under a Stochastic Interest Rate [article]

Linlin Tian, Xiaoyi Zhang
2018 arXiv   pre-print
In this paper we assume the insurance wealth process is driven by the compound Poisson process. The discounting factor is modelled as a geometric Brownian motion at first and then as an exponential function of an integrated Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. The objective is to maximize the cumulated value of expected discounted dividends up to the time of ruin. We give an explicit expression of the value function and the optimal strategy in the case of interest rate following a geometric Brownian
