Emulsifier-Free Acrylate-Based Emulsion Prepared by Reverse Iodine Transfer Polymerization

The self-emulsifying acrylate-based emulsions with solid content 45 wt.% were prepared in 3.5 h by reverse iodine transfer polymerization (RITP), and the polymer molecular weight (Mn) could be 30,000 g·mol−1. The influences of methacrylic acid (MAA) amount, soft/hard monomer mass ratio, and iodine amount on polymerization and latex were investigated. A moderate amount of ionized MAA was needed to stabilize the emulsion. Glass transition temperature (Tg) was decreased with the increasing mass
more &raquo; ... io of soft/hard monomer. A higher iodine amount resulted in lower Mn. The increased Mn after chain extension of the polymer with water-insoluble monomers in iterative one-pot method proved the living of polymer. Compared with conventional emulsion polymerization, molecular weight (Mn) could be controlled, and Mn of polymer synthesized in RITP emulsion polymerization is higher; emulsion of polyacrylate-containing hydroxyl monomer units prepared by RITP emulsifier-free radical polymerization is more stable. Good properties, such as hardness, water resistance, adhesion, and increased value of maximum tensile of films modified by reaction of polyacrylate with melamine–formaldehyde (MF) resin, indicated potential application in baking coating.

甘肃白龙江流域水源涵养服务时空格局及其影响因素 柳冬青, 曹二佳, 张金茜, 巩 杰, 燕玲玲 (兰州大学资源环境学院, 西部环境教育部重点实验室, 兰州 730000) 摘要:白龙江流域是长江上游的主要生态屏障和水源涵养区, 对维系流域生态和可持续发展 至关重要。以甘肃白龙江流域为例, 基于参数本地化的 InVEST 模型对 1990-2016 年水源涵养 时空变化及其影响因素进行分析。结果表明: 流域多年平均水源涵养深度为 47.50 mm, 呈现先 减少后回升的趋势。空间上, 其高值区主要集中于迭部、 文县和舟曲的中高山阴陡坡林区 (平 均涵养深度在该三县 2500~3500 m 海拔段、 阴坡和半阴坡、 25°以上坡段和林地高于流域的平均 涵养深度); 低值区主要位于宕昌和武都的中低山阳缓坡农牧区(平均涵养深度在该两县 2500 m 以下海拔段、 阳坡和半阳坡、 25°以下坡段和耕、 草地低于流域的平均涵养深度) 。气候 背景下, 人类活动驱动的土地利用/覆被格局空间差异是影响水源涵养时空变化的重要因素, 退 耕还林对减缓气候变暖背景下水源涵养深度的下降具有重要意义。
more &raquo; ... 水源涵养; 时空格局; InVEST 模型; 甘肃白龙江流域 生态系统为人类福祉的有序提升提供了各种物质产品和文化环境 [1] 。其中,水作为生 命之源,承载并驱动着不同尺度生态系统过程的物质和能量循环,并在运移、转换的过 程中产生了多种服务效应 [2] ,例如水质净化、径流调节和水源涵养等。同时在气候变化背 景下,人口增长和城市化进程使得人们对水资源的需求不断增加,全球性水资源紧缺、 水环境恶化和水土流失,以及局部干旱和洪涝灾害等问题的加剧,使人们对生态系统的 水文服务越发重视 [3-6] 。因此,开展生态系统水文服务的空间可视化定量评估及其重要性 分区,对实现区域社会生态系统管理和可持续发展意义重大。 水源涵养是一定时空范围和条件下,生态系统将水分保持在系统内的过程和能力 [2] , 在气候变化、地形差异、土地利用/覆被变化 (LUCC) 和土壤理化性质等因素的综合影 响下,具有空间异质性和动态复杂性 [6] 。因此,如何科学评价水源涵养服务一直是生态学 和水文学等相关学科的研究热点。随着研究的不断深入--从单一认识生态系统对河流 水量的影响 (主要为径流调节) 到全面理解水源涵养服务的各种表现形式 (包括拦蓄降 水、净化水质和土壤含水量等) ,人们逐步认识到水源涵养服务在区域生态安全和人类福 祉等方面的重要性 [7] ,并开展了大量研究。国外学者多侧重产水量或产沙量的评估及其气 象、水文因素分析 [8,9] ;国内学者则通过实地采样和间接评估等方法对国家、市县和流域 等不同尺度以及森林、草原和农田等生态系统的水源涵养时空变化及其影响要素进行了 研究 [10-13] 。但已有的时空格局研究多是各子流域或各行政单元间涵养量的差异比较 [5,14] , 缺乏对不同生态系统类型 (土地利用类型或植被类型) 或地形要素 (高程、坡度等) 上

more &raquo; ... t on stock markets has yet to be explored. In this article, we propose a quantitative media-aware trading strategy to investigate the media impact on stock markets. Our main findings are that (1) fundamental information of firm-specific news articles can enrich the knowledge of investors and affect their trading activities; (2) public sentiments cause emotional fluctuations in investors and intervene in their decision making; and (3) the media impact on firms varies according to firm characteristics and article content.

State-dependent coherences between the olfactory bulbs for delta and theta oscillations

Correlations of neuronal oscillations in different brain regions are closely related to a variety of brain functions. The delta and theta oscillations in the olfactory bulb (OB), coupled with respiration rhythm, could play important roles in olfactory tasks. The correlations between the two OBs, however, are largely unknown. By simultaneously recording local field potentials from the OBs, we found that for these oscillations, the intrabulbar coherences were high and state-independent, while the
more &raquo; ... interbulbar coherences were also high but state-dependent. Higher activity states, generated by lighter depth of anesthesia or peripheral odor stimulation, have lower coherence, suggesting that the high interbulbar correlations can be modulated by both internal and external factors.

Cascade Diversification Directs the Generation of Neuronal Diversity in Hypothalamus [article]

The hypothalamus contains an astounding heterogeneity of neurons to achieve its role in regulating endocrine, autonomic and behavioral functions. Despite previous progress in deciphering the gene regulatory programs linked to hypothalamus development, its molecular developmental trajectory and origin of neuronal diversity remain largely unknown. Here we combine transcriptomic profiling of 43,261 cells derived from Rax+ hypothalamic neuroepithelium with lineage tracing to map a developmental
more &raquo; ... scape of mouse hypothalamus and delineate the developmental trajectory of radial glial cells (RGCs), intermediate progenitor cells (IPCs), nascent neurons and peptidergic neurons in the lineage hierarchy. We show that RGCs adopt a conserved strategy for multipotential differentiation but generate both Ascl1+ and Neurog2+ IPCs, which display regionally differential origins in telencephalon. As transit-amplifying cells, Ascl1+ IPCs differ from their telencephalic counterpart by displaying fate bifurcation to produce both glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons. After classifying the developing neurons into 29 subtypes coded by diverse transcription factors, neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, we identified their molecular determinants via regulon analysis and further found that postmitotic neurons at nascent state possess the potential to resolve into more diverse subtypes of peptidergic neurons. Together, our study offers a single-cell framework for hypothalamus development and reveals that multiple cell types along the order of lineage hierarchy contribute to the fate diversification of hypothalamic neurons in a stepwise fashion, suggesting that a cascade diversifying model can deconstruct the origin of neuronal diversity.

Statistical comparisons with some typical existing approaches on three commonly used datasets are provided, which demonstrates the validity and effectiveness of the ABBO/DE/GEN algorithm. Compared with BBO/DE/GEN approaches, ABBO/DE/GEN performs better, or at least comparably, in terms of the quality of the final solutions.

Intermolecular Chirality Modulation of Binaphthalene-Bridged Bisporphyrins With Chiral Diamines

A new pair of 2,2ʹ-diamino-1,1ʹ-binaphthyl linked porphyrin dimers, (R)-/(S)-H, were synthesized to study their supramolecular interactions with a pair of chiral diamines ((R)-/(S)-PPDA) by using UV-Vis absorption, fluorescence and NMR titrations. The spectroscopic titrations indicated that sandwich-type 1:1 complexes were formed at low guest concentration and then transformed to 1:2 open complexes at high guest concentration. Moreover, due to the shortened linking units, (R)-/(S)-H show more sensitive and predicable CD response than the previously reported hosts (R)-/(S)-H1 and this can be reasonably explained by DFT molecular modeling. The present results suggest (R)-/(S)-H are promising for chiral optical sensing.

Novel method for diagnosing lateral patellar compression syndrome using X-ray: a retrospective case-control study

A well-established reference is lacking for diagnosing lateral patellar compression syndrome (LPCS), and this diagnosis currently depends on clinicians' subjective judgment and several examination results. X-rays are primarily used to diagnose LPCS, but they have low detection rates of patellar tilt using the congruence angle (CA) and patellar tilting angle (PTA). We enrolled 87 patients (31 men and 56 women; mean age: 42.11±15.33 years) between 2016 and 2019 and divided them as per diagnosis
more &raquo; ... to three groups of 29 each: LPCS, patellar dislocation (PD, control), and meniscus tear (MT, negative control) groups. A senior radiologist and the chief physician of sports medicine examined their patellar axial radiographs of the knee in 30° flexion using a computer imaging system, measuring LPCA, CA and PTA. Univariate analysis of variance and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used to compare measurement data with normal distribution and non-normal distribution, respectively. Bonferroni correction was used to analyze different indicators for different groups. The area under the curve (AUC) was calculated to verify the value of LPCA in the initial diagnosis of LPCS. LPCA (19.88±7.49) was significantly higher in LPCS group than in MT (13.68±4.69) and PD groups (10.16±4.43) (P<0.01) and was also significantly higher on affected side than on healthy side (16.44±5.00) (P=0.04). LPCA >13.9° had sensitivity and specificity of 89.66% and 68.97%, respectively, for LPCS diagnosis (AUC: 0.82, 95% confidence interval: 0.719-0.891, P<0.001). We demonstrated that LPCA measured using an axial patellar radiograph of the knee in 30° flexion is high in patients with LPCS, and it may be used for diagnosing LPCS.
