The Hadamard matrix with orthogonality is a more important modulation matrix for computational ghost imaging (CGI), especially its optimized Hadamard matrix. However, as far as we know, little mention has been paid to efficient and convenient Hadamard matrix generation for CGI. The existing methods are to reconstruct any row of Hadamard matrix into two-dimensional matrix and then optimize it. Light field modulation matrix is closely related to the quality of reconstructed image in ghost imaging. Impact of Premorbid Infection on Onset and Disease Activity of Rheumatoid Arthritis [article]

Objective: Infections have been implicated in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) development. However, the impact of premorbid infection on initiation and perpetuation of RA has not been well elucidated. Thus, we sought to conduct a large scale on-site survey to study whether premorbid infection may trigger RA and influence status of the disease. Methods: Premorbid infectious events were collected in cohort of 902 RA patients from December 2015 to June 2016. Type of infections prior to RA onset and its
more » ... ossible effects on disease status were analyzed. Result: Three hundred and thirty-four out of 902 patients (37.03%) experienced infections within one month preceding RA onset. The most frequent infections were respiratory (16.08%), intestinal (11.09%) and urinary tract (9.87%) infection, respectively. The infection was associated with increased disease activity. Early onset was found in patients with urinary infection. High disease activity risk was increased in patients who pre-exposure to urinary infection (OR=3.813, 95%CI=1.717-12.418) and upper respiratory infection (OR=2.475, 95%CI= 0.971-6.312). Conclusion: Pre-exposure infections are associated with development of RA. Severe disease status of RA and persistent of active disease status are related to preceding infections.

Clinical significance of prognostic nutritional index in predicting the efficacy in patients with B-cell lymphoma

To investigate the clinical significance of prognostic nutritional index (PNI) in predicting the efficacy in patients with B-cell lymphoma. The clinical data from 111 patients with B-cell lymphoma (B-cell lymphoma group), who were newly diagnosed in the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from February 2013 to September 2018, were retrospectively analyzed. more » ... was compared between the 2 groups. The PNI cut-off value was determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. According to the PNI values of patients before chemotherapy, the patients were also divided into a high PNI group (≥43.5) and a low PNI group (<43.5). The correlation of baseline characteristics was evaluated. The correlation between changes in PNI levels and efficacy were evaluated before and after chemotherapy. The PNI value in the B-cell lymphoma group was significantly lower than that in the healthy control group (P<0.05). Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), presence or absence of B symptoms, international prognostic index (IPI), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status, source of germinal center, and the efficacy between the high PNI group and the low PNI group were significantly different (all P<0.05). The mean PNI in the effective patients in the low PNI group was increased from 38.10 before chemotherapy to 42.66 after chemotherapy, with significant difference (t=-2.562, P<0.05). The PNI value in the ineffective patients in the high PNI group was decreased from 50.50 before chemotherapy to 41.45 after chemotherapy, with significant difference (t=3.044, P<0.05). The level of PNI in patients with B-cell lymphoma is significantly lower than that in healthy people, and it is related to the baseline characteristics of prognosis. The change of PNI level before and after chemotherapy can provide certain basis for efficacy evaluation.

To analyze the expression level of ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2C (UBE2C) in lung adenocarcinoma and its clinical significance. The differences in mRNA and protein expression levels of UBE2C in normal lung tissues and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tissues were determined with the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Oncomine, and human protein atlas (HPA) databases. E2C and LUAD clinicopathological parameters, as well as its relationship with LUAD prognosis was analyzed based on TCGA, International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), and cbioPortal databases. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to analyze the possible pathways of UBE2C in the progression of LUAD. The mRNA expression level of UBE2C was higher in LUAD tissues than in the normal lung tissues (P<0.01) and it was positively correlated with TNM and N stages (both P<0.05). The UBE2C protein expression level was also increased in LUAD tissues than in the normal lung tissues (P<0.01). ROC curve analysis indicated that UBE2C could be used as an auxiliary diagnostic index for LUAD (AUC=0.969, 95% CI 0.953 to 0.984, P<0.01). Survival analysis showed that the overall survival (OS) of UBE2C high expression group was significantly lower than that of low expression group (P<0.05). The OS of LUAD patients with UBE2C change was lower than that of patients without change (P<0.01). UBE2C was highly expressed in the gene set relevant to cell cycle, p53 signaling pathway, DNA mismatch repair, and DNA replication (all P<0.01). The expression level of UBE2C is significantly up-regulated in LUAD tissues. The high expression or genetic alteration of UBE2C indicates poor prognosis in LUAD patients. UBE2C can be used as a potential molecular diagnostic marker for LUAD and a potential target for LUAD treatment.

On the Heat Transfer Enhancement of Plate Fin Heat Exchanger

The plate fin heat exchanger is a compact heat exchanger applied in many industries because of its high thermal performance. To enhance the heat transfer of plate fin heat exchanger further, three new kinds of wavy plate fins, namely perforated wavy fin, staggered wavy fin and discontinuous wavy fin, are proposed and investigated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. more » ... os and breaking distance are investigated, respectively, with Reynolds number changes from 500 to 4500. It is found that due to the swirl flow and efficient mixing of the fluid, the proposed heat transfer enhancement techniques all have advantages over the traditional wavy fin. At the same time, serration is beneficial to reduce the friction factor, and the breaking technique can reduce heat transfer area. Through the performance evaluation criteria, the staggered wavy fin has an advantage over the small waviness aspect ratio; with increasing waviness aspect ratio, this predominance is gradually surpassed by the perforated wavy fin, and the advantage of the discontinuous fin is the smallest and almost invariable. A maximum performance evaluation criteria (PEC) as high as 1.24 can be obtained for the perforated wavy fin at the waviness aspect ratio γ = 0.45.

Ensemble Defense with Data Diversity: Weak Correlation Implies Strong Robustness [article]

In this paper, we propose a framework of filter-based ensemble of deep neuralnetworks (DNNs) to defend against adversarial attacks. The framework builds an ensemble of sub-models -- DNNs with differentiated preprocessing filters. From the theoretical perspective of DNN robustness, we argue that under the assumption of high quality of the filters, the weaker the correlations of the sensitivity of the filters are, the more robust the ensemble model tends to be, and this is corroborated by the
more » ... riments of transfer-based attacks. Correspondingly, we propose a principle that chooses the specific filters with smaller Pearson correlation coefficients, which ensures the diversity of the inputs received by DNNs, as well as the effectiveness of the entire framework against attacks. Our ensemble models are more robust than those constructed by previous defense methods like adversarial training, and even competitive with the classical ensemble of adversarial trained DNNs under adversarial attacks when the attacking radius is large.

Improving Neural Network Verification through Spurious Region Guided Refinement [article]

We propose a spurious region guided refinement approach for robustness verification of deep neural networks. Our method starts with applying the DeepPoly abstract domain to analyze the network. If the robustness property cannot be verified, the result is inconclusive. Due to the over-approximation, the computed region in the abstraction may be spurious in the sense that it does not contain any true counterexample. Our goal is to identify such spurious regions and use them to guide the
more » ... n refinement. The core idea is to make use of the obtained constraints of the abstraction to infer new bounds for the neurons. This is achieved by linear programming techniques. With the new bounds, we iteratively apply DeepPoly, aiming to eliminate spurious regions. We have implemented our approach in a prototypical tool DeepSRGR. Experimental results show that a large amount of regions can be identified as spurious, and as a result, the precision of DeepPoly can be significantly improved. As a side contribution, we show that our approach can be applied to verify quantitative robustness properties.

more » ... The visual acuity, surgically induced astigmatism (SIA), corneal aberration, and anterior segment parameters were analyzed. Compared with the preoperative data, all the patients showed significant improvements in the postoperative uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), anterior chamber depth (ACD), and anterior chamber angle (ACA) after the surgery (P < 0.05). No significant differences were found between the two groups in postoperative UCVA, BCVA, SIA, total corneal aberration RMS, lower- and higher-order aberration RMS, spherical aberration (Z40), horizontal three leaf clover (Z33), vertical three leaf clover(Z3-3), horizontal coma(Z31), vertical coma(Z3-1), ACD, ACA, anterior chamber volume, or central corneal thickness (P>0.05). Phacoemulsification is an effective therapy for cataract with a CCI distance range either of 1-1.5 mm or 0.5-1.0 mm. These two CCI distance ranges produce no significant differences in the visual quality following phacoemulsification, indicating that a CCI distance range of 0.5-1.5 mm can be safe for phacoemulsification.
