Adaptive tests of homogeneity for a Poisson process [article]

We propose to test the homogeneity of a Poisson process observed on a finite interval. In this framework, we first provide lower bounds for the uniform separation rates in L^2 norm over classical Besov bodies and weak Besov bodies. Surprisingly, the obtained lower bounds over weak Besov bodies coincide with the minimax estimation rates over such classes. Then we construct non asymptotic and nonparametric testing procedures that are adaptive in the sense that they achieve, up to a possible
more » ... thmic factor, the optimal uniform separation rates over various Besov bodies simultaneously. These procedures are based on model selection and thresholding methods. We finally complete our theoretical study with a Monte Carlo evaluation of the power of our tests under various alternatives.

This paper outlines how an aerial telecommunications network can optimally meet the stringent needs of emergency relief and recovery operations. We propose a novel architecture, made of an integrated and highly dynamic multi-purpose aerial telecommunications infrastructure that can be contextually extended with fast-deploying high or low altitude platforms. Rationale: Solid organ transplant recipients, especially after lung transplantation, are at increased risk for Mycobacterium tuberculosis pulmonary tuberculosis due to lifelong immunosuppression. Patient concerns: A 41-year-old woman underwent a second bilateral lung transplantation that was complicated by fatal pulmonary tuberculosis. Diagnoses: Histological examination of a lung biopsy performed 6 weeks after retransplantation revealed a caseating granuloma and necrosis. Acid-fast bacilli
more » ... identified as rifampicin-susceptible M. tuberculosis by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), confirmed by culture 2 weeks later. Interventions: Our investigation led us to highly suspect that the transplanted lungs were the source of M. tuberculosis transmission. Lessons: In order to optimize diagnosis and treatment for lung recipients with latent or active tuberculosis, regular assessment of lower respiratory samples for M. tuberculosis, particularly during the 12-month period posttransplant should be implemented. Regarding donor-derived transmission, screening donor grafts with latent tuberculosis by M. tuberculosis real-time PCR in lymphoid and adipose tissues is an option that should be considered. more » ... e transmission strategy for dynamic selection of direct and cooperative links based on the channel conditions for improved energy efficiency. We show that the cooperation between mobile terrestrial terminals on the ground could improve the energy efficiency in the uplink depending on the temporal behavior of the terrestrial and the aerial uplink channels. The simulation analysis corroborates that the adaptive transmission technique improves the overall energy efficiency of the network.
