Design for Product Embedded Disassembly [chapter]

Shingo Takeuchi, Kazuhiro Saitou
2008 Studies in Computational Intelligence
This paper presents a computational method for designing assemblies with a built-in disassembly pathway that maximizes the profit of disassembly while satisfying regulatory requirements for component retrieval. Given component revenues and components to be retrieved, the method simultaneously determines the spatial configurations of components and locator features on the components, such that the product can be disassembled in the most profitable sequence, via a domino-like "self-disassembly"

The problem is posed as optimization and a multi-objective genetic algorithm is utilized to search for Pareto-optimal designs in terms of three objectives: 1) the satisfaction of distance specification among components, 2) the efficient use of locator features on components, and 3) the profit of overall disassembly process under the regulatory requirements. A case study with different costs for removing fasteners demonstrates the effectiveness of the method in generating design alternatives under various disassembly scenarios.

2022 arXiv   pre-print
Over the last three decades, plasmonics using metallic nanostructures has become central to nanophotonics research. Recently, its targets have been extended to nonlinear optical phenomena. In a nonlinear regime, quantum mechanical effects, as exemplified by electron spill-out on the surface of nanostructures, significantly influence the optical response. Quantum hydrodynamic theory (QHT) is a promising basis for the analysis of nonlinear optical responses involving such quantum mechanical

2004 Chishitsugaku zasshi
Since the 1950s, rocks of the Hida Gaien belt have been subdivided into four units: (1)Middle to Upper Paleozoic shallow marine formations(including their metamorphosed facies of the Unazuki belt); (2) mafic to ultramafic igneous rocks including high P/T metamorphic rocks older than 300 Ma; (3)Upper Paleozoic limestone, chert and clastic rocks; and(4)Permian mafic igneous rocks and clastic formations. In this subdivision, the units are identified by their major lithology and their tectonic

Over the last two decades, detailed knowledge of the lithology, age and stratigraphic relationships of these rocks has increased to such an extent that units(2) , (3)and( 4 )are today correlated with rocks not of the Hida Gaien belt, but of the Sangun-Renge, Akiyoshi and Maizuru belts respectively. In this paper, the remaining unit(1)is correlated with the newly revised Hida Gaien belt. Unit(1)rocks are distributed in the Unazuki, Shiroumadake, Fukuji-Hongo-Furukawa, Naradani, Itoshiro and Asahi-Ise-Ohno areas. The type locality is designated as the Fukuji-Hongo-Furukawa area.

2017 Journal of Toxicological Sciences
Although gadolinium (Gd)-based contrast media have been found to be nephrotoxic, their nephrotoxicity, and the dependence of nephrotoxicity on chelate types, have not been assessed in patients with normal or mildly diminished renal failure. This prospective, randomized study compared the nephrotoxicity of low doses of the nonionic Gd-based contrast medium gadodiamide (Omniscan®) and the ionic Gd-based contrast medium gadopentetate (Magnevist®) in patients with serum creatinine < 1.6 mg/dL.
more » ... nts aged 20 to 80 years, weighing 45 to 70 kg and with normal or < 1.6 mg/dL Serumcreatinine in the 3 months prior to undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of brain, were enrolled. Patients were randomized to receive 0.1 mol/kg gadodiamide or gadopentetate. Serum-creatinine, serum cystatin-C, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) using the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) formula, and estimated creatinine clearance rate (eCCr) using the Cockcroft-Gault formula were measured just before and 16-80 hr after MRI. Groups were compared statistically by Mann-Whitney U-tests and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics between the gadodiamide (n = 43) and gadopentetate (n = 59) groups. Serum-creatinine, eGFR and eCCr before and 16-80 hr after MRI did not differ significantly within either group or between the two groups. Serum cystatin-C was significantly higher 16-80 hr after than before MRI only in the gadodiamide group (0.79 ± 0.21 vs. 0.74 ± 0.14 mg/L, p = 0.028). The ionic contrast medium, gadopentetate, did not affect renal function during MRI, whereas the nonionic contrast medium, gadodiamide, affected renal function transiently.

Reconstruction of Tokamak Equilibrium from Measured Magnetic Data with Error Radial Field

Mitsushi Abe, Kazuhiro Takeuchi
1992 Kakuyūgō kenkyū
A tokamak plasma equilibrium code to reconstruct the magnetic field around a plasma from measured magnetic data, was applied to the Hitachi tokamak(HT-2).It was found that a systematic measurement error is produced by the toroidal field coils and it makes an iterative calculation converge to a wrong equilibrium state.A technique to compensate for the measurement error field was developed. The plasma cross-sectional shape is then well analyzed in the HT-2 experiments.A compensating radial field of
