Recent progress of the soft X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) techniques and relevant applications at beamline 4B7B in Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility are reported here. more »... to investigate the interface ferromagnetism and magnetic anisotropy of two Mn-based materials, i.e. Fe/(Ga,Mn)As and La2/3Sr1/3MnO3/SrTiO3 bilayer heterostructures. An enhanced XMCD signal has been observed at the Fe L2,3-edges whereas a relative small but unambiguous Mn XMCD signal with opposite sign has been detected which indicates an antiferromagnetic coupling at Fe/(Ga,Mn)As interfaces. A comparative study of the stoichiometric and nonstoichiometric La2/3Sr1/3MnO3/SrTiO3 bilayers clearly demonstrates that the oxygen vacancies degrade the magnetic properties of the perovskite manganese oxide film. These achievements benefit from the established field-reversal and angle-dependent XMCD techniques, which will make it possible to extend the research field of our devices from ferromagnetic to paramagnetic or diluted magnetic semiconductor system.
Massive data are generated and collected by devices in the industrial Internet of Things. Data sources would encrypt the data and send them to the data center through the gateway. For some supervision purpose, the gateway needs to observe the encrypted data stream and label the suspicious data. The adaptive security of our proposed underlying functional encryption scheme can be proven under general subgroup decision assumptions, and our scheme has the smaller public key, the smaller secret key, and the smaller ciphertext size compared to the related schemes. Especially for the gateway, querying on the encrypted data only needs less than 20ms, which is practical for industrial data stream auditing scenario.

Sugar content is an important trait of fleshy fruit, and elevating sucrose levels is a major goal in horticultural crop breeding. Here, we examined the sugar content in two varieties of the Ussurian pear (Pyrus ussuriensis), Nanguo (NG) and its bud sport (BNG), and we found that sucrose content was higher in BNG fruit than in NG fruit. more »... ed at higher levels in BNG fruit. Heterologous expression of PuSWEET15 in a SUSY7/ura yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) strain showed that PuSWEET15 is an active sucrose transporter. Overexpression of PuSWEET15 in NG pear fruit increased sucrose content, while silencing of PuSWEET15 in BNG fruit decreased sucrose content. The WRKY transcription factor PuWRKY31 was also expressed more highly in BNG fruit than in NG fruit, and we found that PuWRKY31 bound to the PuSWEET15 promoter and induced its transcription. The histone acetylation level of the PuWRKY31 promoter was higher in BNG fruit, suggesting a mechanism by which sucrose levels can be elevated.

more »... d in this open-label, single-arm pilot clinical study. Seven of these patients received allogeneic Vγ9Vδ2 T-cell therapy adjunct with anti-TB drugs in all therapy courses. Cells (1 × 108) were infused per treatment every 2 weeks, with 12 courses of cell therapy conducted for each patient, who were then followed up for 6 months to evaluate the safety and efficacy of cell therapy. The eighth patient initially received four courses of cell infusions, followed by eight courses of cell therapy plus anti-MDR-TB drugs. Clinical examinations, including clinical response, routine blood tests and biochemical indicators, chest CT imaging, immune cell surface markers, body weight, and sputum Mycobacterium tuberculosis testing, were conducted. Our study revealed that allogeneic Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are clinically safe for TB therapy. These cells exhibited clinical efficacy in multiple aspects, including promoting the repair of pulmonary lesions, partially improving host immunity, and alleviating M. tuberculosis load in vivo, regardless of their application in the presence or absence of anti-TB drugs.
