A pre-order principle and set-valued Ekeland variational principle [article]

Jing-Hui Qiu
2013 arXiv   pre-print
We establish a pre-order principle. From the principle, we obtain a very general set-valued Ekeland variational principle, where the objective function is a set-valued map taking values in a quasi ordered linear space and the perturbation contains a family of set-valued maps satisfying certain property. From this general set-valued Ekeland variational principle, we deduce a number of particular versions of set-valued Ekeland variational principle, which include many known Ekeland variational principles, their improvements and some new results.

Non-Conflicting Ordering Cones and Vector Optimization in Inductive Limits [article]

Jing-Hui Qiu
2013 arXiv   pre-print
Let (E,ξ)= ind(E_n, ξ_n) be an inductive limit of a sequence (E_n, ξ_n)_n∈ N of locally convex spaces and let every step (E_n, ξ_n) be endowed with a partial order by a pointed convex (solid) cone S_n. In the framework of inductive limits of partially ordered locally convex spaces, the notions of lastingly efficient points, lastingly weakly efficient points and lastingly globally properly efficient points are introduced. For several ordering cones, the notion of non-conflict is introduced.

A revised pre-order principle and set-valued Ekeland variational principle [article]

Jing-Hui Qiu
2014 arXiv   pre-print
In my former paper "A pre-order principle and set-valued Ekeland variational principle" (see: arXiv: 1311.4951[math.FA]), we established a general pre-order principle. From the pre-order principle, we deduced most of the known set-valued Ekeland variational principles (denoted by EVPs) and their improvements. But the pre-order principle could not imply Khanh and Quy's EVP in [On generalized Ekeland's variational principle and equivalent formulations for set-valued mappings, J. Glob. Optim., 49
more » ... 2011), 381-396], where the perturbation contains a weak τ-function. In this paper, we give a revised version of the pre-order principle. This revised version not only implies the original pre-order principle, but also can be applied to obtain the above Khanh and Quy's EVP. Thus, the revised pre-order principle implies all the known set-valued EVPs in set containing forms (to my knowledge).

Music Therapy in Adults With COPD

Jing Huang, Xiaohui Yuan, Nan Zhang, Hui Qiu, Xiangdong Chen
2020 Respiratory care
Music therapy, as a non-drug therapy, is widely used in patients with COPD. However, the effects of music therapy on dyspnea, anxiety, depression and other physiological parameters has not been elucidated. Therefore, we sought to investigate the effects of passive music therapy (listening to music) and mixed music (combination of listening and singing) in adults with COPD. A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge
more » ... cture, VIP, and Wanfang Data up to June 26, 2019. All randomized controlled trials that compared music with usual care or other non-musical types of intervention in subjects with COPD were included in the study. The risk of bias for randomized controlled trials was assessed with the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Outcomes included dyspnea, anxiety, depression, sleep quality, and quality of life, as well as physiological parameters (eg, blood pressure and breathing frequency). After initial screening of 216 potentially relevant records, 59 studies were eligible, and 12 studies with 812 participates met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final meta-analysis. Analysis showed that music therapy had a significant effect in relieving dyspnea (mean difference: -0.69, 95% CI -0.80 to -0.58, P < .001) and anxiety (standardized mean difference: -1.87, 95% CI -2.72 to -1.02, P < .001) in adults with COPD. Compared with the control group, music had no statistically significant effect on depression or St George Respiratory Questionnaire score. However, when it came to improving sleep quality, music reduced the total Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score (P < .001). In addition, the pooled results showed that there was a significant improvement in systolic blood pressure (mean difference: -7.45, 95% CI -10.95 to -3.96, P < .001) and diastolic blood pressure (mean difference: -4.07, 95% CI -7.03 to -1.12, P = .007) in the music group compared to the control. Music therapy is effective in reducing dyspnea and anxiety in subjects with COPD. Additionally, music therapy may also improve sleep quality and physiological parameters of subjects with COPD. However, our conclusions need to be supported further by larger and longer well-designed trials.

Gut Microbial Dysbiosis and Cognitive Impairment in Bipolar Disorder: Current Evidence

Wenyu Dai, Jieyu Liu, Yan Qiu, Ziwei Teng, Sujuan Li, Hui Yuan, Jing Huang, Hui Xiang, Hui Tang, Bolun Wang, Jindong Chen, Haishan Wu
2022 Frontiers in Pharmacology
Recent studies have reported that the gut microbiota influences mood and cognitive function through the gut-brain axis, which is involved in the pathophysiology of neurocognitive and mental disorders, including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and schizophrenia. These disorders have similar pathophysiology to that of cognitive dysfunction in bipolar disorder (BD), including neuroinflammation and dysregulation of various neurotransmitters (i.e., serotonin and dopamine). There is also

Therefore, microbiota-centered treatment might be an effective adjuvant therapy for BD-related cognitive impairment. Given that studies focusing on connections between the gut microbiota and BD-related cognitive impairment are lagging behind those on other neurocognitive disorders, this review sought to explore the potential mechanisms of how gut microbial dysbiosis affects cognitive function in BD and identify potential microbiota-centered treatment.

Infra-Mackey spaces, weak barrelledness and barrelledness

Jing-Hui Qiu
2004 Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications
A weaker Mackey topology, infra-Mackey topology, is introduced. For an infra-Mackey space, dual local quasi-completeness, c 0 -quasi-barrelledness, Ruess' property (quasi-L) and C-quasibarrelledness are equivalent to each other. Inspired by the definition of Mazur spaces, locally convex spaces are classified according to various conditions ensuring linear functionals continuous. In the classification, every class of special locally convex spaces is characterized by some completeness of the
