On Geographic Collaborative Forwarding in Wireless Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

</i>
In this paper, we study the geographic collaborative forwarding (GCF) scheme, a variant of opportunistic routing, which exploits the broadcast nature and spatial diversity of the wireless medium to improve the packet delivery efficiency. Our goal is to fully understand the principles, the gains, and the tradeoffs of the node collaboration and its associated cost, thus provide insightful analysis and guidance to the design of more efficient routing/forwarding protocols. We first identify the

... r bound of the expected packet advancement (EPA) that GCF can achieve and prove the concavity of the maximum EPA. With energy efficiency as a major concern, we propose a new metric, EPA per unit energy consumption, which balances the packet advancement, reliability and energy consumption. By leveraging the proved properties, we then propose an efficient algorithm which selects a feasible candidate set that maximizes this local metric. We validate our analysis results by simulations, and justify the effectiveness of the new metric by comparing the performance of GCF with those of the existing geographic and opportunistic routing schemes.

A Lightweight Verification Method Based on Metamorphic Relation for Nuclear Power Software

The verification of nuclear design software commonly uses direct comparison methods. Benchmark questions, classical programs, experimental data, manual solutions, etc., would be used as expected results to compare with program outputs to evaluate the reliability of software coding and the accuracy of the numerical solution. Because nuclear power software numerically simulates complex physical processes, it involves many partial differential equations. It is usually challenging to construct

... tical or accurate solutions and is expensive to develop benchmark questions and experimental data. Hence, the quantity of verification examples is small. By using the direct comparison method, verification is complicated, high cost, and inadequate. Entering the validation process without adequate proof will adversely impact the effectiveness and efficiency of validation. Metamorphic testing is an indirect verification technology that cleverly combines the nature of the model with software verification. It evaluates the correctness of the code by examining whether the program satisfies the metamorphic relation. Without manual solutions or benchmark examples, it has broad application prospects in the field of nuclear power. A lightweight verification method based on metamorphic relation has been produced here. Metamorphic relations are identified from physical equations, numerical algorithms, and program specifications. Next, they are explicitly used to system, integration, and unit tests to improve test adequacy. Because no need to develop verification examples, this method can detect code errors as soon as possible at a low cost, improve test efficiency, avoid mistakes remaining in subsequent stages and reduce the overall cost of verification.

Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurement in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) has been reported to be a helpful biomarker for detection and characterization of lesion. In view of the importance of ADC measurement reproducibility, the aim of this study was to probe the variability of the healthy hepatic ADC values measured at 3 MR scanners from different vendors and with different field strengths, and to investigate the reproducibility of normalized ADC (nADC) value with the spleen as the

... reference organ. Thirty enrolled healthy volunteers received DWI with GE 1.5T, Siemens 1.5T, and Philips 3.0T magnetic resonance (MR) systems on liver and spleen (session 1) and were imaged again after 10 to 14 days using only GE 1.5T MR and Philips 3.0T MR systems (session 2). Interscan agreement and reproducibility of ADC measurements of liver and the calculated nADC values (ADC liver /ADC spleen ) were statistically evaluated between 2 sessions. In session 1, ADC and nADC values of liver were evaluated for the scanner-related variability by 2-way analysis of variance and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Coefficients of variation (CVs) of ADCs and nADCs of liver were calculated for both 1.5 and 3.0-T MR system. Interscan agreement and reproducibility of ADC measurements of liver and related nADCs between 2 sessions were found to be satisfactory with ICC values of 0.773 to 0.905. In session 1, the liver nADCs obtained from different scanners were consistent (P = 0.112) without any significant difference in multiple comparison (P = 0.117 to >0.99) by using 2-way analysis of variance with post-hoc analysis of Bonferroni method, although the liver ADCs varied significantly (P < 0.001). nADCs measured by 3 scanners were in good interscanner agreements with ICCs of 0.685 to 0.776. The mean CV of nADCs of both 1.5T MR scanners (9.6%) was similar to that of 3.0T MR scanner (8.9%). ADCs measured at 3 MR scanners with different field strengths and vendors could not be compared directly. Normalization of ADCs, however, may provide better reproducibility by overcoming these potential issues. Abbreviations: ADC = apparent diffusion coefficient, CV = coefficient of variation, DWI = diffusion-weighted imaging, ICC = intraclass correlation coefficient, LOA = limit of agreement, nADC = normalized ADC, ROI = region of interest, SD = standard deviation.

Results: Our result indicated that for advanced gallbladder neuroendocrine cell carcinoma coexisting with adenocarcinoma, MT including extended surgical approach combined with postoperative chemotherapy may contribute to a relatively good survival outcome. Conclusion: MT may contribute to a relatively good survival outcome for advanced gallbladder neuroendocrine cell carcinoma coexisting with gallbladder adenocarcinoma. The standardization process of the fifth generation (5G) wireless communications has recently been accelerated and the first commercial 5G services would be provided as early as in 2018. The increasing of enormous smartphones, new complex scenarios, large frequency bands, massive antenna elements, and dense small cells will generate big datasets and bring 5G communications to the era of big data. This paper investigates various applications of big data analytics, especially machine learning

... rithms in wireless communications and channel modeling. We propose a big data and machine learning enabled wireless channel model framework. The proposed channel model is based on artificial neural networks (ANNs), including feed-forward neural network (FNN) and radial basis function neural network (RBF-NN). The input parameters are transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) coordinates, Tx-Rx distance, and carrier frequency, while the output parameters are channel statistical properties, including the received power, root mean square (RMS) delay spread (DS), and RMS angle spreads (ASs). Datasets used to train and test the ANNs are collected from both real channel measurements and a geometry based stochastic model (GBSM). Simulation results show good performance and indicate that machine learning algorithms can be powerful analytical tools for future measurement-based wireless channel modeling.

A categorification of the Heisenberg algebra is constructed in by Khovanov using graphical calculus, and left with a conjecture on the isomorphism between the Heisenberg algebra and Grothendieck ring of the constructed category. We give a proof of Khovanov's conjectured statement in this paper from a categorification of some deformed Heisenberg algebra.

Sliding Ferroelectric Tunnel Junctions

Very recently, ferroelectric polarization in staggered bilayer hexagonal boron nitride (BBN) and its novel sliding inversion mechanism was reported experimentally (Science 2021, 372, 1458; 2021, 372, 1462), which paves a new way to realize van der Waals (vdW) ferroelectric devices with new functionalities. Here, we develop vdW sliding ferroelectric tunnel junctions (FTJs) using the sliding ferroelectric BBN unit as ultrathin barriers and explore their transport properties with different

... ctric states and metal contacts via the first principles. It is found that the electrode/BBN contact electric field quenches the ferroelectricity in the staggered BBN, resulting a very small tunnelling electroresistance (TER). Inserting high-mobility 2D materials between Au and BN can restore the BBN ferroelectricity, reaching a giant TER of ~10,000% in sliding FTJs. We finally investigate the metal-contact and thickness effect on the tunnelling property of sliding FTJs. The giant TER and multiple non-volatile resistance states in vdW sliding FTJs show the promising applications in voltage-controlled nano-memories with ultrahigh storage density.
