Necessity of Grammar Teaching

Grammar is often misunderstood in the language teaching field. The misconception lies in the view that grammar is a collection of arbitrary rules about static structures in the language. Further questionable claims are that the structures do not have to be thought, learners will acquire them on their own, or if the structures are taught, the lessons that ensue will be boring. This thesis on comparative approach tries to make a brief analysis of necessity of grammar teaching before it gives a

Efficient Distributed Method for NLOS Cooperative Localization in WSNs

The accuracy of cooperative localization can be severely degraded in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments. Although most existing approaches modify models to alleviate NLOS impact, computational speed does not satisfy practical applications. In this paper, we propose a distributed cooperative localization method for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in NLOS environments. We developed an efficient decomposed formulation for the convex counterpart, and designed a parallel distributed algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), which significantly improves computational speed. To accelerate the convergence rate of local updates, we approached the subproblems via the proximal algorithm and analyzed its computational complexity. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that our approach is superior in processing speed and accuracy to other methods in NLOS scenarios.

BackgroundKeratinocytes of psoriasis have anti-apoptotic properties including delayed apoptosis process, accelerated proliferation metabolism and postponed differentiation process. However, the specific mechanism leading to the abnormal biological behavior of keratinocytes remains unclear.ObjectivesWe investigated the role of increased RPL22 expression in regulating the abnormal biological behavior of keratinocytes and the mechanism of regulation of RPL22 expression in skin lesions of psoriatic
more » ... patients.MethodsWe examined clinical samples and utilized cytokine-induced cell and IMQ-treated mouse models. We determined the expression and functions of RPL22 in vitro and in vivo.ResultsWe showed that RPL22 expression was significantly increased in the skin lesions of psoriasis patients and IMQ-treated psoriatic-like mice. Such increased expression is attributed to hyperacetylation of histone H3K27 in the promoter region of RPL22. Interestingly, overexpression of RPL22 enhanced keratinocyte proliferation by increasing cyclinD1 expression and accelerated CD4+T cells recruitment via upregulating CXCL10 expression. Finally, we demonstrated that RPL22 overexpression promoted psoriasiform phenotypes in IMQ-induced mouse skins.ConclusionsThese findings suggested that RPL22 regulates keratinocytes abnormal biological behavior and contributes to the development of psoriatic phenotypes. Thus, RPL22 might be a novel potential molecular target for treatment of psoriasis.

Robust Distributed Cooperative Localization with NLOS Mitigation Based on Multiplicative Convex Model

The accuracy of cooperative localization degrades significantly in the non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments. In addition, the computational complexity of the localization problem often increases dramatically as the scale of a wireless sensor network (WSN) grows. To address these challenges, we propose a distributed NLOS cooperative localization algorithm. First, we propose a new multiplicative model based on the physical mechanism of the NLOS propagation and relax the proposed non-convex model
more » ... into its convex envelope. This model has a powerful capability to mitigate the NLOS impact and remarkable robustness in changing environments. Second, we design a redundant formulation to decompose the convex problem into numerous sub-problems and then develop an efficient distributed algorithm, which enables each sensor node to locally solve each sub-problem in a parallel way, to decrease the computational complexity. The theoretical analysis and simulations show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the existing methods in both processing speed and localization accuracy.
