In this exploratory lattice study, low-energy scattering of the (DD̅^*)^± meson system is analyzed using lattice QCD with N_f=2 twisted mass fermion configurations with three pion mass values. The calculation is performed within single-channel Lüscher's finite-size formalism. The threshold scattering parameters, namely the scattering length a_0 and the effective range r_0, for the s-wave scattering in J^P=1^+ channel are extracted. For the cases in our study, the interaction between the two
more &raquo; ... med mesons is weakly repulsive. Our lattice results therefore do not support the possibility of a shallow bound state for the two mesons for the pion mass values we studied. This calculation provides some useful information on the nature of the newly discovered resonance-like structure Z_c(3900) by various experimental groups.

Scalar scalar_paper and tensor tensor_paper glueballs created in J/ψ radiative decays are studied in quenched lattice QCD. Using two anisotropic lattices to approach the continuum limit, we compute the relevant form factors responsible for the decay rates for J/ψ→γ G_0^++ and J/ψ→γ G_2^++. Comparing with the existing experimental data, it is argued that f_0(1710) is a favorable candidate for scalar glueball. The decay rate for J/ψ→γ G_2^++ is found to be quite substantial. The dried heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera is a very important traditional Chinese medicine. In nature, D. odorifera heartwood forms slowly over several decades, and excessive harvesting has caused large-scale reductions of its wild populations. To date, there have been no studies on artificial methods to induce heartwood formation in trees that have not already begun producing heartwood. We have published a patent for a whole-tree heartwood inducing technique for D. odorifera (the "Dodor-Wit"
more &raquo; ... ethod); here, we describe and analyze its efficacy. Trees in four plantations in China were treated using this method. After two years, in 2016 and 2017, they were harvested and analyzed. Average heartwood yield per tree was 3,161.95 g. Heartwood induction rate (dry heartwood weight to total dry trunk weight after peeling) was 21.60%. Average volatile oil content per tree was 1.42%. Alcohol-soluble extract of the induced heartwood was 15.77%, exceeding the Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard. This is the first report on the Dodor-Wit method and heartwood induction in D. odorifera trees aged 5–8 years. The heartwood induced by Dodor-Wit satisfies the requirements of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The Dodor-Wit method has an important role in solving the extreme scarcity of Chinese medicinal herbs.

3D Invisible Cloak [article]

In this paper, we propose a novel physical stealth attack against the person detectors in real world. The proposed method generates an adversarial patch, and prints it on real clothes to make a three dimensional (3D) invisible cloak. Anyone wearing the cloak can evade the detection of person detectors and achieve stealth. We consider the impacts of those 3D physical constraints (i.e., radian, wrinkle, occlusion, angle, etc.) on person stealth attacks, and propose 3D transformations to generate

We launch the person stealth attacks in 3D physical space instead of 2D plane by printing the adversarial patches on real clothes under challenging and complex 3D physical scenarios. The conventional and 3D transformations are performed on the patch during its optimization process. Further, we study how to generate the optimal 3D invisible cloak. Specifically, we explore how to choose input images with specific shapes and colors to generate the optimal 3D invisible cloak. Besides, after successfully making the object detector misjudge the person as other objects, we explore how to make a person completely disappeared, i.e., the person will not be detected as any objects. Finally, we present a systematic evaluation framework to methodically evaluate the performance of the proposed attack in digital domain and physical world. Experimental results in various indoor and outdoor physical scenarios show that, the proposed person stealth attack method is robust and effective even under those complex and challenging physical conditions, such as the cloak is wrinkled, obscured, curved, and from different angles. The attack success rate in digital domain (Inria data set) is 86.56%, while the static and dynamic stealth attack performance in physical world is 100% and 77%, respectively, which are significantly better than existing works.

Most previous image matting methods require a roughly-specificed trimap as input, and estimate fractional alpha values for all pixels that are in the unknown region of the trimap. In this paper, we argue that directly estimating the alpha matte from a coarse trimap is a major limitation of previous methods, as this practice tries to address two difficult and inherently different problems at the same time: identifying true blending pixels inside the trimap region, and estimate accurate alpha
more &raquo; ... es for them. We propose AdaMatting, a new end-to-end matting framework that disentangles this problem into two sub-tasks: trimap adaptation and alpha estimation. Trimap adaptation is a pixel-wise classification problem that infers the global structure of the input image by identifying definite foreground, background, and semi-transparent image regions. Alpha estimation is a regression problem that calculates the opacity value of each blended pixel. Our method separately handles these two sub-tasks within a single deep convolutional neural network (CNN). Extensive experiments show that AdaMatting has additional structure awareness and trimap fault-tolerance. Our method achieves the state-of-the-art performance on Adobe Composition-1k dataset both qualitatively and quantitatively. It is also the current best-performing method on the alphamatting.com online evaluation for all commonly-used metrics.
