more »... lly collect a new and high-quality paired dataset, where each pair contains an unordered product attribute set in the source language and an informative product description in the target language. As the dataset construction process is both time-consuming and costly, the new dataset only comprises of 13.5k pairs, which is a low-resource setting and can be viewed as a challenging testbed for model development and evaluation in cross-border e-commerce. To tackle this cross-lingual set-to-description retrieval task, we propose a novel cross-lingual matching network (CLMN) with the enhancement of context-dependent cross-lingual mapping upon the pre-trained monolingual BERT representations. Experimental results indicate that our proposed CLMN yields impressive results on the challenging task and the context-dependent cross-lingual mapping on BERT yields noticeable improvement over the pre-trained multi-lingual BERT model.
Usher syndrome (USH) is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by deafness and retinitis pigmentosa. In view of the high phenotypic and genetic heterogeneity in USH, performing genetic screening with traditional methods is impractical. All affected individuals had a classic USH type I (USH1) phenotype which included deafness, vestibular dysfunction and retinitis pigmentosa. Targeted NGS and Sanger sequencing validation suggested that USH1 patients carried an unreported splice site mutation, c.5168+1G>A, as a compound heterozygous mutation with c.6070C>T (p.R2024X) in the MYO7A gene. A functional study revealed decreased expression of the MYO7A gene in the individuals carrying heterozygous mutations. In conclusion, targeted next-generation sequencing provided a comprehensive and efficient diagnosis for USH1. This study revealed the genetic defects in the MYO7A gene and expanded the spectrum of clinical phenotypes associated with USH1 mutations.
We describe an automated three-axis BRDF measurement instrument that can help increase the physical realism of computer graphics images by providing light scattering data for the surfaces within a synthetic scene that is to be rendered. Validation was achieved by comparisons against reference surfaces and other instruments. A Monte Carlo study illustrates that the omitted price bias is significant in the traditional approach, while our method consistently recovers the production function parameters. We apply our method to a firm-level data set from Colombian manufacturing industries. The empirical results are consistent with the prediction that the use of expenditure as a proxy for quantities biases the elasticity of substitution downward. Moreover, using our preferred method, we provide evidence of significant input price dispersion and even wider productivity dispersion than is estimated using proxy methods.
Recognizing metaphors and identifying the source-target mappings is an important task as metaphorical text poses a big challenge for machine reading. To address this problem, we automatically acquire a metaphor knowledge base and an isA knowledge base from billions of web pages. To optimize thermophysical performances, Sm3TaO7 was doped with Lu3+ and pressureless sintered at 1600 ?C. It was shown that Sm3+ is partly substituted by Lu3+ cations and the (Sm1-xLux)3TaO7 ceramics with a single pyrochlore structure are obtained.With increasing x value from 0 to 0.5, the band gap increases gradually from 4.677 to 4.880 eV. Due to the reduction of crystal lattice energy and average electro-negativity difference, the thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) is heightened with increasing Lu content. In this paper, a dynamic robust multiple watermarking algorithm is proposed based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Human Visual System (HVS). Watermark image is transformed by Arnold transform. Original image is divided into blocks with 8 by 8 and each block is transformed by DWT. By adopting the Just Noticeable Difference (JND) of HVS and changing low frequency coefficients, binary string message can be embedded into the decomposed original image.
