Under the axiom of He and Rapoport for the stratifications of Shimura varieties, we explain a result of Görtz, He and Nie that the EKOR strata contained in the basic loci can be described as a disjoint union of Deligne-Lusztig varieties. In the special case of Siegel modular varieties, we compare their descriptions to that of Görtz and Yu for the supersingular Kottwitz-Rapoport strata and to the descriptions of Harashita, Hoeve for the supersingular Ekedahl-Oort strata.

On the superspecial loci of orthogonal type Shimura varieties [article]

In this note, we study the superspecial loci of orthogonal type Shimura varieties of signature (n-2, 2) with n>3. We prove a conjecture of Gross on the parametrizations of the superspecial locus in the special fiber of an orthogonal type Shimura variety and its lift in the integral model by certain homogeneous spaces. As applications, we provide a mass formula for the superspecial locus.

Proteomic Analysis of Mycelial Exudates of Ustilaginoidea virens

Rice false smut (RFS) disease, which is caused by Ustilaginoidea virens, has been widespread all over the world in recent years, causing irreversible losses. Under artificial culture conditions, exudates will appear on colonies of U. virens during the growth of the hyphae. Exudation of droplets is a common feature in many fungi, but the functions of exudates are undetermined. more » ... sed in this study. A total of 650 proteins were identified in the exudate of U. virens, and the raw data were made available via ProteomeXchange with the identifier PXD019861. There were 57 subcategories and 167 pathways annotated with Gene Ontology (GO) classification and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, respectively. Through protein–protein interaction (PPI) network analysis, it was found that 20 proteins participated in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. Two separate PPI analyses were performed for carbon metabolism and microbial metabolism in diverse environments. After comparing and annotating the functions of proteins of the exudate, it was speculated that the exudate was involved in the construction and remodeling of the fungal cell wall. Pathogenicity, sporulation, and antioxidant effects might all be affected by the exudate.

more » ... the Logistic model, the relationship between the number of population and time was established, and finally the number of fungi in the steady state was obtained The interaction between different species of fungi was analyzed by Lotka-Volterra model, and the decomposition rate of various fungal combinations in different environments was obtained. After studying the one and two cases, we can extrapher from one to the other, and the community consisting of n fungal populations will be similar to the community consisting of n+1 fungal populations. After the study, we substituted the collected data into the model and found that the fungal community composed of two kinds of fungi had a lower decomposition rate of ground decomposition or wooden fiber than that of a single kind of fungus for the same kind of substance. We found that the fungus in warm and humid environment of decomposition rate is highest, the change of the atmospheric cause some fungal population growth rate decreases, there are also some will increase, which is associated with the nature of fungi.We analyzed the influence of environmental factors, namely temperature and humidity, on the model.

On quaternionic unitary Rapoport-Zink spaces with parahoric level structures [article]

In this article, we describe the underlying reduced scheme of a quaternionic unitary Rapoport-Zink space with Iwahori level structure. In a previous work, we have studied the quaternionic unitary Rapoport-Zink space with a special maximal parahoric level structure. We will describe the morphism between these two Rapoport-Zink spaces and the fiber of this morphism. As an application of this result, we describe the the quaternionic unitary Rapoport-Zink space with any parahoric level structure.

Indivisibility of Heegner cycles over Shimura curves and Selmer groups [article]

In this article, we show that the Abel-Jacobi images of the Heegner cycles over the Shimura curves constructed by Nekovar, Besser and the theta elements contructed by Chida-Hsieh form a bipartite Euler system in the sense of Howard. As an application of this, we deduce a converse to Gross-Zagier-Kolyvagin type theorem for higher weight modular forms generalizing works of Wei Zhang and Skinner for modular forms of weight two. Many people use public computers to browse the Web and perform important online activities. However, public computers are usually far less trustworthy than peoples' own computers because they are more vulnerable to various security attacks. In this paper, we propose SessionMagnifier, a simple approach to secure and convenient kiosk browsing. The key idea of SessionMagnifier is to enable an extended browser on a mobile device and a regular browser on a public computer to collaboratively support
more » ... Web session. This approach simply requires a SessionMagnifier browser extension to be installed on a trusted mobile device. A user can securely perform sensitive interactions on the mobile device and conveniently perform other browsing interactions on the public computer. We implemented SessionMagnifier for Mozilla's Fennec browser and evaluated it on a Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. Our evaluation and analysis demonstrate that SessionMagnifier is simple, secure, and usable.

Low-Complexity Algorithm for Worst-Case Utility Maximization in Multiuser MISO Downlink [article]

This work considers worst-case utility maximization (WCUM) problem for a downlink wireless system where a multiantenna base station communicates with multiple single-antenna users. Specifically, we jointly design transmit covariance matrices for each user to robustly maximize the worst-case (i.e., minimum) system utility function under channel estimation errors bounded within a spherical region. This problem has been shown to be NP-hard, and so any algorithms for finding the optimal solution
more » ... suffer from prohibitively high complexity. In view of this, we seek an efficient and more accurate suboptimal solution for the WCUM problem. A low-complexity iterative WCUM algorithm is proposed for this nonconvex problem by solving two convex problems alternatively. We also show the convergence of the proposed algorithm, and prove its Pareto optimality to the WCUM problem. Some simulation results are presented to demonstrate its substantial performance gain and higher computational efficiency over existing algorithms.

Adsorption of Phthalates on Municipal Activated Sludge

Phthalates (PAEs) are commonly detected in discharge of municipal wastewater treatment plants. This study investigated the removal of six typical PAEs with activated sludge and the results revealed that concentrations of aqueous PAEs decreased rapidly during the beginning 15 min and reached equilibrium within 2 hours due to the adsorption of activated sludge. The process followed first-order kinetic equation, except for dioctyl phthalate (DOP). The factors influencing the adsorption were also
more » ... aluated and it was found that higher initial concentrations of PAEs enhanced the removal but affected little the adsorption equilibrium time. The adsorption of PAEs favored lower operating temperature (the optimum temperature was approximately 25°C in this research), which could be an exothermic process. Additionally, lower aqueous pH could also benefit the adsorption.

Level lowering for GSp(4) and vanishing cycles on Siegel threefolds [article]

In this article we prove some level lowering results for Siegel modular forms of degree 2 with paramodular level structure by adapting a method of Ribet in his proof of the epsilon conjecture. The proof relies on the description of the supersingular locus of a quaternionic Siegel threefold which is obtained by the author in a previous work. PILOT: High-Precision Indoor Localization for Autonomous Drones [article]

In many scenarios, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aka drones, need to have the capability of autonomous flying to carry out their mission successfully. In order to allow these autonomous flights, drones need to know their location constantly. more » ... ement units (IMUs). However, such an approach is not feasible in indoor environments or GPS-denied areas. In this paper, we propose a localization scheme for drones called PILOT (High-Precision Indoor Localization for Autonomous Drones) that is specifically designed for indoor environments. PILOT relies on ultrasonic acoustic signals to estimate the target drone's location. In order to have a precise final estimation of the drone's location, PILOT deploys a three-stage localization scheme. The first two stages provide robustness against the multi-path fading effect of indoor environments and mitigate the ranging error. Then, in the third stage, PILOT deploys a simple yet effective technique to reduce the localization error induced by the relative geometry between transmitters and receivers and significantly reduces the height estimation error. The performance of PILOT was assessed under different scenarios and the results indicate that PILOT achieves centimeter-level accuracy for three-dimensional localization of drones.

more » ... in certain categories of websites. Moreover, we perform a detailed postmortem analysis on a real hotlink-victim site. After analyzing a group of commonly used hotlinking attacks and the weakness of current defense methods, we present an anti-hotlinking framework for protecting materials on hosting servers based on existing network security techniques. The framework can be easily deployed at the server side with moderate modifications, and is highly customizable with different granularities of protection. We implement a prototype of the framework and evaluate its effectiveness against hotlinking attacks.
