Multiplication-less neural networks significantly reduce the time and energy cost on the hardware platform, as the compute-intensive multiplications are replaced with lightweight bit-shift operations. more »... h (NAS) to substantially reduce the accuracy gap between bit-shift neural networks and their real-valued counterparts. Specifically, we pioneer dragging NAS into a shift-oriented search space and endow it with the robust topology-related search strategy and custom regularization and stabilization. As a result, our ShiftNAS breaks through the incompatibility of traditional NAS methods for bit-shift neural networks and achieves more desirable performance in terms of accuracy and convergence. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ShiftNAS sets a new state-of-the-art for bit-shift neural networks, where the accuracy increases (1.69-8.07)% on CIFAR10, (5.71-18.09)% on CIFAR100 and (4.36-67.07)% on ImageNet, especially when many conventional CNNs fail to converge on ImageNet with bit-shift weights.
A novel black phosphorus (BP) solution saturable absorber (SA) is fabricated by the liquid-phase-exfoliated method and successfully used for passively Q-switched (QS) Nd:YVO 4 laser. Compared with a traditional solid SA, a BP solution SA possesses more excellent optical transparency and higher damage resistance. The shortest pulse duration and highest average output power are measured to be 119 ns and 1.23 W, respectively. We propose SIMC 2.0, which complies with the underlying structure of SIMC, but significantly optimizes both the linear and non-linear layers of the model. Specifically, (1) we design a new coding method for homomorphic parallel computation between matrices and vectors. It is custom-built through the insight into the complementarity between cryptographic primitives in SIMC. As a result, it can minimize the number of rotation operations incurred in the calculation process, which is very computationally expensive compared to other homomorphic operations e.g., addition, multiplication). (2) We reduce the size of the garbled circuit (GC) (used to calculate nonlinear activation functions, e.g., ReLU) in SIMC by about two thirds. Then, we design an alternative lightweight protocol to perform tasks that are originally allocated to the expensive GCs. Compared with SIMC, our experiments show that SIMC 2.0 achieves a significant speedup by up to 17.4× for linear layer computation, and at least 1.3× reduction of both the computation and communication overheads in the implementation of non-linear layers under different data dimensions. Meanwhile, SIMC 2.0 demonstrates an encouraging runtime boost by 2.3∼ 4.3× over SIMC on different state-of-the-art ML models.
Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) measurement of ^59Ni has been established at CIAE with the HI-13 tandem accelerator and the recently developed Δ E-Q3D detection system. ^59Ni standard and commercial NiO samples were measured to check the performance of the Δ E-Q3D detection system on ^59Ni isobar separation and suppression. The finite element simulation and experimental results show the propagation characteristics of the guided wave are influenced distinctly by the stress state. The index constructed by the system parameters exhibits good monotonic linear with stress level variation, and the slope of the fitted line from experimental data is similar to the simulation result. The present study aimed to investigate the role of partner of NOB1 homolog (PNO1) in esophageal cancer (EC). The expression levels of PNO1 in EC were primarily analyzed using data obtained from databases. Furthermore, the protein expression levels of AKT1, Twist, Myc, mTOR, matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2), nuclear factor (NF)‑κB p65 and β‑catenin 1 (CTNNB1) were downregulated following the KD of PNO1 in Eca‑109 cells (P < 0.05). In addition, the overexpression of CTNNB1 reversed the effects of PNO1 KD in Eca‑109 cells (P < 0.05). In conclusion, the findings of the present study suggest that PNO1 promotes EC progression by regulating AKT1, Twist, Myc, mTOR, MMP2, NF‑κB p65 and CTNNB1 expression.

The SEM morphology observed indicates that the amphiphilic PCASE polymer self-organized into diameters of about 140~210 nm nanospheres in dilute aqueous solution after recognized with 5-fluorouracil spontaneously. The sizes of PCASE/5-flu nanospheres in dilute aqueous solution determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS) are mainly dispersed at 120~230 nm. The molecule recognition based on hydrogen bond between adenine of polymer and 5-fluorouracil substrate in PCASE/5-flu nanospheres was studied. After recognition the C(2)=O stretching vibration at 1724 cm -1 of 5-fluorouracil subtract shifted to 1718 cm -1 , the NH 2 stretching vibration at 3324 cm -1 disappeared, and a new peak at 3432 cm -1 arised, indicating the formation of hydrogen bonds between 5-fluorouracil and adenine in polymer PCASE. The study on variable temperature FTIR show that the peak 1718 cm -1 gradually shifted back to the position at 1724 cm -1 , and the new peak 3432 cm -1 disappeared finally, indicating that the H-bond was broken.
