Guangyu Yang, Yu Miao, Dihe Hu
2010 arXiv   pre-print
In this paper, we consider random walk in random environment on Z^d (d≥1) and prove the Strassen's strong invariance principle for this model, via martingale argument and the theory of fractional coboundaries of Derriennic and Lin DL, under some conditions which require the variance of the quenched mean has a subdiffusive bound. The results partially fill the gaps between law of large numbers and central limit theorems.

A GAN-Based Video Intra Coding

Guangyu Zhong, Jun Wang, Jiyuan Hu, Fan Liang
2021 Electronics
Intra prediction is a vital part of the image/video coding framework, which is designed to remove spatial redundancy within a picture. Based on a set of predefined linear combinations, traditional intra prediction cannot cope with coding blocks with irregular textures. To tackle this drawback, in this article, we propose a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based intra prediction approach to enhance intra prediction accuracy. Specifically, with the superior non-linear fitting ability, the
more » ... -trained generator of GAN acts as a mapping from the adjacent reconstructed signals to the prediction unit, implemented into both encoder and decoder. Simulation results show that for All-Intra configuration, our proposed algorithm achieves, on average, a 1.6% BD-rate cutback for luminance components compared with video coding reference software HM-16.15 and outperforms previous similar works.

2018 Sensors
An improved hybrid homotopy method is proposed to decouple the multi-input model of tactile sensors. The time-embedded homotopy algorithm is proved to be very suitable for solving the problem. Three tracking factors that control the efficiency of the algorithm are studied: tracking operator, stepsize, and accuracy. Trust region methods are applied to track the zero paths instead of the traditional differential algorithm, and a periodic sampling method is proposed to improve the efficiency of

2018 Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine
Association of bone marrow adipose and microstructure with bone strength in osteoporotic rats using MR Dixon analysis and micro-CT was evaluated. A total of 40 female Sprague-Dawley rats (6-month-old) were divided randomly into sham-operated (SHAM, n=20) group and ovariectomized (OVX, n=20) group. Fat fraction (FF) was measured by two-point Dixon method with MR imaging at the baseline, 4th, 8th and 12th week, respectively. After sacrifice by anesthesia, the fifth lumbar vertebrae bone was
more » ... d for micro-CT scanning. The biomechanical analysis was also performed. FF in osteoporotic rats significantly increases with time, which correlates with bone microstructure parameters. Compared with biomechanical test, FF showed negative correlation with break stress and elastic modulus. It also suggested that loss of bone mass was accompanied with the increase of adipose tissue content in vertebrae bone marrow. The impairment of bone strength leads to the risk of brittle fracture. In conclusion, the bone marrow adipose amount obtained by MR Dixon and microstructure by micro-CT correlates to bone strength in osteoporotic rats.

18F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake predicts PKM2 expression in lung adenocarcinoma

Ping Huang, Xiang Zhao, Weiyuan Xiao, Yuqi Dong, Guangyu Hu
2017 OncoTarget
Positron emission tomography (PET) with 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18 F-FDG) is widely used in the management of lung adenocarcinoma. Pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) plays a key role in glycolysis. We therefore investigated whether PKM2 expression affects 18 F-FDG uptake in a retrospective analysis of 76 patients who underwent 18 F-FDG PET/computed tomography (CT) scans for staging before surgical resection. We found that PKM2 expression was higher in tumors than peritumoral tissue (p < 0.05).
more » ... with high PKM2 expression had reduced overall (p < 0.05) and disease-free (p < 0.05) survival as compared to those with low PKM2 expression. Comparison of the primary tumor maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) between patients with high and low PKM2 expression revealed that the SUVmax was higher in primary tumors with high PKM2 expression than low PKM2 expression (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis confirmed the association between SUVmax and PKM2 expression (p < 0.05). PKM2 status was predicted with 81.6% accuracy when the SUVmax cutoff value of 6.4. Thus, 18 F-FDG PET/CT is predictive of the PKM2 status in lung adenocarcinoma patients and could aid in determining therapeutic strategies.

Guangyu Zou, Jiaxi Hu, Xianfeng Gu, Jing Hua
2011 Lecture Notes in Computer Science
In this paper, we propose a novel area-preserving surface flattening method, which is rigorous in theory, efficient in computation, yet general in application domains. Leveraged on the state-of-the-art flattening techniques, an infinitesimal area restoring diffeomorphic flow is constructed as a Lie advection of differential 2-forms on the manifold, which yields strict equality of area elements between the flattened and the original surfaces at its final state. With a surface represented by a

To demonstrate the utility of this method, we have applied our method to both the cortical hemisphere and the entire cortex. Highly complied results are obtained in a matter of seconds.

2021 Translational Pediatrics
The Child Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (Child HCAHPS) is a standard instrument to measure pediatric inpatients' experience of care. Currently, no Chinese version of the Child HCAHPS exists for Chinese patients. Therefore, this study aimed to create a Chinese version of the Child HCAHPS and investigate its validity and reliability in a Chinese setting. Using the approach recommended in guidelines from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for
more » ... ng HCAHPS surveys, we produced a Chinese version of the Child HCAHPS. A two-month field test with seven hospitals across five provinces in China was performed to assess its validity. Construct validity was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis. We evaluated convergent validity by factor loading, average variance extracted (AVE), and construct reliability (CR). Cronbach's alpha and corrected item-total correlation (CITC) were used to reflect hospital-level unit reliabilities for the survey's item composites. The correlation of the measure score with the overall rating was calculated to evaluate criterion validity. An overall response rate of 63% was achieved, and 2,258 respondents completed the questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis showed a comparative fit index (CFI) of 0.905, a non-normed fix index of 0.886, and a root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) of 0.089. Most items had factor loadings over 0.7. Cronbach's alpha coefficient on the overall level was 0.981, and all measures' CITC exceeded 0.6, demonstrating good to excellent hospital-level reliability of the composite and single-item measures. All composite measures had good to excellent internal consistency reliability (0.716 to 0.994). Item-to-composite correlation ranged from 0.510 to 0.997. Composite-to-composite correlations ranged from 0.488 to 0.997. According to the survey result, for all the 18 composite or single-item measures, mean top-box scores ranged from 56% ("Involving teens in care") to 87% ("Informed in Emergency Room"). The Chinese version of the Child HCAHPS demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability. The application of this tool can help benchmark ongoing healthcare improvement initiatives in China.

2014 Gastroenterology Research and Practice
The noncoding components of the genome, including miRNA, can contribute to pathogenesis of gastric cancer. Their expression has been profiled in many human cancers, but there are a few published studies in gastric cancer. It is necessary to identify novel aberrantly expressed miRNAs in gastric cancer. In this study, the expression profile of 1891 miRNAs was analyzed using a miRCURY array LNA miRNA chip from three gastric cancer tissues and three normal tissues. The expression levels of 4 miRNAs
more » ... were compared by real-time PCR between cancerous and normal tissues. We found that 31 miRNAs are upregulated in gastric cancer(P<0.05)and 10 miRNAs have never been reported by other studies; 30 miRNA are downregulated(P<0.05)in gastric cancer tissues. Gene ontology analysis revealed that those dysregulated miRNAs mainly take part in regulating cell proliferation. The levels of has-miR-105, -213*, -514b, and -548n were tested by real-time PCR and have high levels in cancerous tissues. Here, we report a miRNA profile of gastric cancer and provide new perspective to understand this malignant disease. This novel information suggests the potential roles of these miRNAs in the diagnosis, prognosis biomarkers, or therapy targets of gastric cancer.

2021 arXiv   pre-print
The reference frame memory accesses in inter prediction result in high DRAM bandwidth requirement and power consumption. This problem is more intensive by the adoption of intra block copy (IBC), a new coding tool in the screen content coding (SCC) extension to High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). In this paper, we propose a lossless recompression scheme that compresses the reference blocks in intra prediction, i.e., intra block copy, before storing them into DRAM to alleviate this problem. The
