Objective: To assess associations between subjective well-being (SWB), religiosity, anxiety and other factors in a sample of Brazilian medical students from a public university in northeastern Brazil. Methods: The present study followed a cross-sectional, observational, analytical approach. Data were collected by administering a self-applicable questionnaire composed of questions focused on sociodemographic data and based on the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWL), Positive Affect and Negative
more » ... fect Scale (PANAS), Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ), and the Duke Religiosity Index (DUREL). Results: The sample comprised 417 medical school students (73.54% of all the enrolled students). The medical students assessed presented a medium level of satisfaction with life, low mean positive emotion levels and high anxiety/uneasiness levels. Surprisingly, lower anxiety and intrinsic religiosity (IR) scores were associated with higher scores in the two SWB parameters (positive emotions and satisfaction with life). Furthermore, the factors leisure activities, good sleep quality, financial support, age, and gender were associated with the highest SWB scores (with emotional and cognitive components, or with only one of these two components). Conclusions: Data in the current study corroborated the negative association between SWB and anxiety; however, in opposition to the literature, they also evidenced a negative association between SWB and IR. In addition, the present research signaled the need for creating preventive intervention programs to increase SWB through positive psychological techniques and/or to decrease anxiety by applying, for instance, cognitive-behavioral therapy paradigms and/or mindfulness techniques to medical students.

Developing and Evolving a Multi-agent System Product Line: An Exploratory Study [chapter]

Ingrid Nunes, Camila Nunes, Uirá Kulesza, Carlos Lucena
2009 Lecture Notes in Computer Science
Software Product Line (SPL) approaches motivate the development and implementation of a flexible and adaptable architecture to enable software reuse in organizations. The SPL architecture addresses a set of common and variable features of a family of products. Based on this architecture, products can be derived in a systematic way. A multi-agent system product line (MAS-PL) defines an SPL architecture that is modularized, also using software agents to model, design and implement its common and

This paper presents the development of an MAS-PL for the web domain, describing its architecture, the agents that compose the system and details of the object-oriented implementation and design. This MAS-PL consists of the evolutionary development of the ExpertCommittee web-based system. Furthermore, this paper reports some lessons learned from this exploratory study of definition of a MAS-PL.

2011 Lecture Notes in Computer Science
Multi-agent System Product Lines (MAS-PLs) are the integration of two promising technologies: Multi-agent Systems (MASs), which provides a powerful abstraction to model features with autonomous and pro-active behavior, and Software Product Lines (SPLs), whose aim is to reduce both time-to-market and costs in the development of system families by the exploitation of commonalities among family members. This paper presents a domain engineering process for developing MAS-PLs. It defines activities

2009 Proceedings of the 2009 ACM symposium on Applied Computing - SAC '09
Multi-agent Systems (MASs) development and Software Product Lines (SPLs) are two consolidated software engineering techniques. Recent research work explores the integration between them by proposing new templates and adaptations to document SPL variability in the context of MASs. However, the automatic product derivation process is not addressed in these works. In this paper, we propose a new extension to our existing model-based product derivation tool, called GenArch, in order to enable the

2008 Proceedings of the 14th Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web - WebMedia '08
Web applications are popular nowadays due to the ubiquity of the client and also because user experience is becoming each time more interactive. However, several tasks of these applications can be automated. Agent-oriented software engineering has emerged as a new software engineering paradigm to allow the development of applications that present autonomous behavior. In this work, we present two case studies of web-based systems, on which we added autonomous behavior by means of software

2019 Jornal de Pediatria
To describe the association between sleep duration and weight-height development in children and adolescents. A non-systematic search in the MEDLINE database was performed using the terms anthropometry, body composition, overweight, obesity, body mass index, growth, length, short stature, sleep, children, and infants and adolescents, limited to the last 5 years. The references cited in the revised articles were also reviewed, when relevant. Sleep disorders are prevalent in the pediatric

Evidence found in the current literature allows the conclusion that sleep time reduction has a role in the current pandemic of overweight and obesity. Studies associating sleep deprivation and deficit in height growth are still insufficient. The association between shorter sleep duration and risk of overweight and obesity is well established for all pediatric age groups. However, more evidence is needed to establish an association between insufficient sleep duration and height growth deficit. Pediatricians should include the encouragement of healthy sleep habits in their routine guidelines as an adjuvant in the prevention and management of excess weight.

Camila Nunes, Uirá Kulesza, Cláudio Sant'Anna, Ingrid Nunes, Alessandro Garcia, Carlos J.P. Lucena
2009 2009 13th European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering
Multi-agent systems (MAS) are increasingly being exploited to support autonomous recommendation of products and information to contemporary application users. Multi-agent system product lines (MAS-PL) promote large-scale reuse of common and variable agency features across multiple MAS applications. The development of MAS-PLs can be achieved through alternative MAS-specific frameworks (JADE and Jadex), and general-purpose implementation techniques, such as aspect-oriented programming (AOP).
more » ... er, there is not much evidence on how these techniques provide better modularity, allowing the conception of stable MAS-PL designs. This paper reports an empirical study that assesses the modularity of a MAS-PL through a systematic analysis of its releases. The study consists of a comparison among three distinct versions of this MAS-PL, each one implemented with a different technique: (i) Jadex platform and configuration files; (ii) JADE platform and configuration files; and (iii) JADE platform enriched with AOP mechanisms. Our analysis was driven by fundamental modularity attributes.
