Objective: Author Profiling is a text classification technique to predict the author profiles of anonymous text. Author Profiles are the demographic characteristics of the authors like age, gender, native language, location, educational background and personality traits. This paper proposes a new model to predict the profiles of the authors such as gender and age by analyzing their writing styles on hotel reviews dataset. more » ... features and capturing the relationship between the features. In this paper, a Profile specific Document Weighted approach is proposed to address the drawbacks of existing approaches. In the proposed model, the pivoted unique term normalization measure is used to calculate the weight of the terms specific to each profile group. Document weight specific to each profile group is calculated as the sum of individual term weights of the specific group. A document vector has constructed using the weight of each group of a profile in the document. Findings: An anonymous document profile has identified using the model generated by the machine learning classifier. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated with various classifiers using accuracy as a measure. The proposed approach is experimented on reviews domain to predict the gender and age group of the authors. For gender prediction, the proposed model trained on Naïve Bayes Multinomial classifier results to good accuracy of 91.50%. The logistic classifier results to good accuracy of 81.58% on the proposed model. The results achieved in this paper that outperforms most of the existing approaches. Applications: Author Profiling became popular in several information technologies enabled applications such as marketing, forensic analysis, psychology and entertainment. Using reviews dataset on hotels, the business analysts can take strategic decisions to improve the business by identifying the individual profile groups based on the customer reviews.

Assessment of spatial variation in hydrogeochemical characteristics was studied in a tropical estuary, Cochin India. Noticeable spatial variations was observed in transparency, turbidity, salinity, PO 4 3--P, NH 4 + -N, dissolved Cd and Hg. Light limitation due to high turbidity reduced the primary production, even under high nutrient conditions. The multivariate statistical methods such as factor analysis (FA), cluster analysis (CA), canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to appraise and interpret complex hydrogeochemical data, to categorize pollution sources for better understanding about various biogeochemical processes. CA and CCA showed a meaningful classification of estuarine samples based on spatial criteria. Statistical analysis revealed that Secchi disk depth (SD), water salinity, NO 2 --N, NO 3 --N, dissolved oxygen (DO), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC), sediment pH, organic carbon (SOC) and Pb were the most crucial parameters influencing the hydrogeochemistry of the estuary.

Study of functional outcome of surgical management of proximal humerus fracture by various modalities

Proximal humerus fractures account for nearly 6-10% and are on a rise. The management of this is controversial and is challenging task. There is a significant heterogeneity among the studies in describing the best surgical procedure in proximal humerus fracture. The objective of the study is to assess and compare the functional outcome with different modalities in fixation of proximal humerus shaft fractures. Methods: A two-year prospective study was conducted after getting ethical approval at
more » ... arayana Medical College on cases admitted with proximal humerus fractures as per the inclusion criteria based on Neer's classification. Radiological evaluation was done, and surgery was performed. Postoperative follow-up was done at 1 st , 4 th , 8 th and 14 th week and outcome were evaluated for each case based on Neer's shoulder score. Results: 30 cases were included with a mean age of 48.2 years. Road traffic injury was common cause of fracture. Of the total 30 cases, 23 cases had excellent results, 4 cases were satisfactory, 2 cases were unsatisfactory, and one case had a failure. The mean scores observed on Neer's score was pain (33.5 units), Function (23.5 units), range of motion (16.55 units) and anatomy (6.9 units). Conclusions: Clinical evaluation, obtaining proper radiological views, age of the patient and activity holds the key for realistic approach and surgical management of complex humerus fractures. Proper patient selection and thorough knowledge of the anatomy and biomechanical principles are the prerequisites for a successful surgery and good functional outcome.
