Abstract
The article presents a brief retrospective analysis of teaching methods of foreign languages in order to identify good practices for use in teaching Russian as a foreign language. Analyzing conscious, natural, direct, audiolingual, audiovisual, intensive method, «The Silent Way», «Community Language Lerning», «Natural Approach», and «Total Physical Response», the author reveals effective techniques to help develop communication skills in students of Russian for who the language is foreign. The methods and techniques described in the paper may help the teacher of «RKI» (Russian as a foreign language) master teaching methods and improve their teaching skills.
