Abstract

Waste management is an increasingly important issue and challenge in our world today, which must be one of the foundations of sustainable development in such special areas too as the installation and maintenance of built-in fire alarm and extinguishing systems. These devices are now widespread, not only for the protection of 'critical systems and facilities', but also for protection of simpler facilities. In addition to the manufacture of these devices, their installation, maintenance and disposal also have many environmental aspects that need to be carefully considered in order to avoid unnecessary pollution. Hungarian experience shows that the handling of the various materials used in built-in fire protection systems is individually well regulated, but due to the wide range of regulations, it is difficult for the involved contractors and operators to apply it. Therefore, one of the keys to achieving effective waste management is the information of those involved. The systematisation and simplified communication of information on waste management and tasks can increase the efficiency of the contractors' compliance, related to their special work. With this article we would like to contribute to sustainable development. The best first little step to inform the relevant professionals is to create a well-structured, easy-to-interpret table containing the most important related environmental protection tasks and information.
