Abstract

       Daun tumbuhan kemuning diketahui mengandung minyak atsiri yang berfungsi sebagai bahan antioksidan dan anti-inflamatori. Minyak atsiri daun kemuning pada penelitian ini dipisahkan dengan menggunakan metode Microwave Hydrodistillation (MHD), yaitu metode ekstraksi dengan menggunakan sistem destilasi dengan memanfaatkan radiasi gelombang mikro untuk mempercepat ekstraksi selektif dengan memanaskan pelarut secara cepat dan efisien. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik minyak atsiri daun kemuning, pengaruh variasi berat bahan baku dengan variasi waktu ekstraksi terhadap rendemen minyak atsiri, serta pengaruh pengaturan suhu dan waktu ekstraksi terhadap rendemen minyak atsiri pada daun kemuning yang diekstraksi menggunakan teknik MHD. Ekstraksi minyak atsiri daun kemuning menggunakan metode MHD dengan variasi berat bahan baku, waktu ekstraksi dan pengaturan suhu, menghasilkan karakteristik minyak atsiri daun kemuning berwarna bening kekuningan, memiliki aroma khas daun kemuning, berat jenis rata-rata 0,8106 g/mL, rata-rata rendemen 0,0086% dan rata-rata indeks bias 1,33677. Waktu optimum proses ekstraksi pada penelitian ini yaitu 60 menit. Rendemen yang dihasilkan selama 60 menit pada suhu medium-low pada berat bahan baku 50, 75 dan 100 gram secara berturut-turut adalah 0 %; 0,0053 % dan 0,0055 %, sedangkan pada pengaturan suhu medium berturut-turut adalah 0,0074 %; 0,0101 % dan 0,0144 %. Pengaturan suhu medium memberikan hasil rendemen yang lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan hasil pengaturan suhu medium low, baik pada berat bahan baku 50, 75 dan 100 gram. ABSTRACT       Kemuning leaves contain essential oils that function as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients. The essential oil of Kemuning leaves in this study was separated using the Microwave Hydrodistillation (MHD) method, which is an extraction method using a distillation system that utilizes microwave radiation to accelerate selective extraction by heating the solvent quickly and efficiently. The objectives of the study were to determine the characteristics of the essential oil of Kemuning leaves extracted using MHD technique, the effect of variation in the weight of raw material of Kemuning leaves and extraction time on the yield of essential oil of Kemuning leaves, as well as the effect of temperature regulation with variation of extraction time on the yield of essential oil of Kemuning leaves. The extraction of Kemuning leaf essential oil by MHD method, with a variation of raw material weight, extraction time, and temperature setting, resulted in a clear yellowish oil color, a distinctive aroma of Kemuning leaves, average specific gravity of 0.8106 g/mL, average yield of 0.0086% and average refractive index of 1.33677. The optimum time for the extraction process in this study was 60 minutes. The yield produced for 60 minutes at medium-low temperatures with 50, 75, and 100 grams of raw material weight was 0%, 0.0053%, and 0.0055%, respectively, while at medium temperatures was 0.0074%, 0.0101%, and 0.0144%, respectively. The yields obtained at medium temperature settings was higher than medium-low temperature, for 50, 70 and 100 grams of raw material weight.
