Abstract

RESUMO Os elementos simbólicos que integram as pinturas da Anunciação, e que não correspondem a prefigurações ou temas bíblicos, são muito diversos e constituem elementos fundamentais para compreender o significado da mensagem subjacente. A presença destes elementos iconográficos transforma algumas pinturas em «verdadeiros tratados de teologia» e deverá ser compreendida no contexto da época em que foram utilizados. Neste artigo, que se baseia na investigação realizada no âmbito da nossa Tese de Doutoramento, tentamos esclarecer o significado de alguns dos símbolos e atributos mais significativos das pinturas da Anunciação, o que permitirá, não somente compreender melhor tais pinturas, como, também, evidenciar que, por parte dos artistas ou dos respectivos comitentes, havia um profundo conhecimento teológico e das fontes literárias, entre as quais salientamos os Evangelhos Apócrifos. ABSTRACT The symbolic elements that integrates the paintings of the Annunciation, and that do not correspond to biblical subjects, are very important for understand the meaning of the underlying message. The presence of these iconographic elements transforms some paintings in "true treated of theology" and should be understood in the context of the epoch in that were utilized. In this paper we intent clarify the meaning of the most important symbols and attributes of the paintings of the Annunciation, what will permit, not only better understand such paintings, as, also, patent the deep theological knowledge and the knowledge of literary sources, namely the Apocryphal Gospels.
