Abstract

In this article, the author examines the main problems of development of startups<jats:italic> </jats:italic>and small and medium–sized enterprises in the regions of the Russian Federation in the<jats:italic> </jats:italic>conditions of COVID–19. Presented by data on the development of the main directions of startups<jats:italic> </jats:italic>in the regions of the Russian Federation.<jats:italic />The features of the development of startups in such areas as education, finance, e-commerce<jats:italic> </jats:italic>and personnel management solutions are reflected. The essential problems of the development<jats:italic> </jats:italic>of small and medium–sized businesses in modern conditions are shown, which, according to<jats:italic> </jats:italic>the author, include: structural problems of the development of regional economies, the underdevelopment of the mechanism for attracting investment in services, agriculture and other<jats:italic> </jats:italic>industries, the problems of developing new competitive industries and reducing taxes,<jats:italic> </jats:italic>developing export potential and solving social problems.<jats:italic />The necessity of targeted state support for small and medium-sized businesses, identification<jats:italic> </jats:italic>of opportunities for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in all regions of<jats:italic> </jats:italic>the country is indicated.
